Dr. William Ross Wilcox, MD

I've been a patient of Dr. Wilcox for nearly a year now. Beyond our first visit, I've never seen him again, though I'm in and out of the genetics office 2-3 times a month. I'm told the genetics office used to be run by a very kind doctor that visited his patients regularly and knew many of his patients on a first name basis. The genetics office is nothing like that now. Not only is he cold and has horrible bed side manner, his orders seem to give off the feeling that he doesn't care about his patients at all. They're merely numbers to add to his credentials. Furthermore, it feels as though his management style has trickled down to others in his department. There appears to be no compassion amongst his team, no patient by patient by patient care. If you're able to see another geneticist, I suggest it.

Friendly, pleasant, easygoing doctor. Was able to give me my life-changing diagnosis. Very satisfied with the thoroughness of the physical exam. I felt like he was taking his time with me (rare to find in doctors nowadays) and not rushing through everything. Gave good explanations to my mother who knew less about the condition than I did. Afterward even my mother commented that she liked him, thought he was a good doctor. I have to say, this was the happiest doctor's appointment I have ever had. Now I've got a lot of answers and that empowers me with knowledge of where to go next on my healthcare journey. Thank you Dr. Wilcox!

I have had the worst experience with this doctor. Our son tested positive for a condition and we were contacted by his assistant Claudia Hernandez who has absolutely no bedside manner. She made it seem like a grave concern, when in fact, it is not the worst thing that someone could have. We were so upset until we talked to our pediatrician. In fact, it turned out our child doesn't have it at all, but tested low in a level of a certain substance. Trying to deal with this office is impossible. What we found is that if your child doesn't actually have the genetic marker for whatever metabolic disease they suspect him/her of having, then Dr. Wilcox could careless because he is only interested in research. Their office is unresponsive to the point of being unprofessional. My wife was told that she also had low levels, and they waited almost three weeks to tell her that - then they told her that the side effect of having low levels could be SUDDEN DEATH! YET THEY WAITED WEEKS TO… CALL HER and give her a prescription.This Dr. gives Cedars a bad name. I didn't have any other bad experiences with Cedars, but this Doc's level of professionalism is ridiculous. Then they expect you to do the followup and then they forgot to call you, or simply refill your prescriptions without asking if your child's weight has gone up to account for an increase in dosage.Unbelievable coming from Cedars.
