Dr. William Leroy Wittman, MD

Adversely affected by his behavior. Due to my long-time doctor's retirement, I began going to him. In the past, when my medical concerns were discussed with my doctor, the dr. moved forward, testing or referring me to a specialist. Very serious medical issues were found and successfully treated. W.'s response to my attempt to discuss health concerns is to announce that I have anxiety issues and should go to behavior medicine specialists to be put on anxiety medication. There is a medical issue about which I have expressed concern for over a year. I decided to go to someone else, who immediately ordered a test, which showed I have an issue for which they immediately did a biopsy to determine if it is cancer. Currently waiting for biopsy results. Was told that even if it is not cancer, the choice will be to either have surgery or watch it very closely from now on since it is a serious concern even if it is not cancer. W was sent this info by the other medical provider. When I… returned to him, he said my actions confirmed the severity of the anxiety disorder, pressed harder for me to make a behavioral medical practice appt, and stood by his refusal to take my concerns seriously, saying that the chances of all this being serious are very small, and I come up with things to be anxious about. My medical specialist friends are completely shocked and can't understand this, given my medical history. During my appts with him, whether for something like bronchitis, or expressing concern about multiple things going on with health that were unusual for me and indicated (to me, at least) that there was something going on in my body, he never wanted to examine me except to listen to my lungs and heart. If I asked him to look at my throat, check for swollen glands/nodes, whatever, he said it wasn't necessary and started talking about anxiety issues. Aside having my health concerns ignored, the terrible thing about this is that he has charted that I have serious anxiety issues, which are evidenced by expressing concern about insignificant non-symptoms. The first time you are not asked any questions or examined, the first time you realize you are not receiving any respect, only condescending courtesy, do not ever see a medical provider again. He may have some behavioral issues that he should see a specialist about.

Dr. Wittman is excellent, willing to spend as much time explaining his actions/diagnosis as you need.

I highly recommend this doctor, he took his time asked and answered all questions and developed a reasonable diagnostic and therapeutic approach
