Dr. Willie B Ewing, MD

When my hua band and i made an appointment for consult. I told the staff that weve been looking for a primary doctor who will take the time to look ar our medical history, help us with our goals to be healthy, we want to work with a doctor who is willing to work with us....anyqay first impression? He doesnt care. He walked in the room where we waited, shook our hands, looked at our chart...then his phone rang. He picked it the call, talked for a few minutes then logged in to the computer and ordered prescriptions for whoever was on the phone...i dont think thats right. My husband and i just looked at each other and was like ok, umm we were akwardly waiting for him to be done on the phone . And, that was the first and last time we came to see him. Didnt even take the time to get to know us, smh

I do NOT recommend Dr. Ewing and I am currently looking for a new primary care physician. Everytime I come in to see Dr. Ewing he acts like I am an inconvenience to him. Very rude and short and just doesn’t take very much time and doesn’t care about my concerns. This last visit was the last straw. Little information. My mother passed away from Breast Cancer when I was younger. Then at 27 my younger sister was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and had to have a double mastectomy, chemo and radiation. She is still living. So because of this and the fact that I’m a single mom of an 8 year old daughter I went to the Hanford breast center to have genetic testing done. My results came back positive for the Palb2 genetic mutation. When given my results in person at the breast center I was informed I needed to talk to my primary doctor to get a referral for a GI specialist and for an MRI. Per the instructions I was to have an MRI 5 months after my mammogram and per the instructions it states I… needed to get a referral for the GI specialist (a specific one was listed). I called Dr.Ewing’s office and informed them of this information to set up my appointment. I told them I had all the paperwork with the results and I could bring it with me if they needed it which they said I should. I get to the appointment and when the nurse or medical assistant takes me to the room I explain the situation again and show her my paper work. She goes and makes a copy of all of the results as well as what I was given by the genetics specialist with what was needed to do next. Dr Ewing comes in a few minutes later with this information in his hand. He then asks me why I need to see a GI specialist. I asked if he had not gotten the paperwork or if they did not tell him. He says he has the paper work and he’s looked at it. At this point I’m not understanding why he’s asking me why I need to go to a GI when the paperwork is in front of him. So I repeat the situation again about the results and that I’m at risk for pancreatic cancer. His response “everyone is at risk.” I then had to tell him I am at higher risk per these results. (Which again he had in his hand). He then told me to come with him to the front it could be done. This is after spending around a minute, maybe 2 in the exam room. So then one of the woman up front works on getting a referral out and then tells me I will be contacted. I then ask about the MRI. They then take the paperwork to another woman who asks me where I got this paperwork. By now I’m irritated because of how the doctor reacted. I told her I got it from the person at the breast center. She then asks who and I tell her I don’t remember her name but I didn’t just type it up myself. To which she replies that’s not what I said. I told her I didn’t understand why this was such an issue when everything was right there I repeated the instructions again that were listed on the paperwork and advised once again that they had all of the results. She then started telling me they needed more information to do a referral. And then proceeded to tell me that she was sorry that wasn’t the answer I was looking for. As if I’m just wanting to get a referral for an MRI just because. And then I left because I felt like I wasn’t getting anywhere. Again I lost my mom to cancer, watched my younger sister go through it then get these results saying I have an even higher chance of getting it or pancreatic cancer and that scares me. I’m a single mom and a wonderful daughter and I’m doing my best to make sure I take care of myself and I’m around for her as long as possible. And Dr. Ewing and his staff made this already stressful and scary situation even worse. I hope no one ever has to feel that way.

This doctor is one of the most horrible doctors I have ever had. He spent most of his time staring at a computer screen, was rude, and did not follow up on anything. He told me, "With your insurance, there are only so many things I am willing to do for you." It was Blue Cross/Shield. So I told him I would get better insurance and he got happy and shook my hand. That was the last visit I had with him.

It saddens me to have to write this poor review of Dr. Ewing. He wast doctor as a child and will probably know who I am if he reads these reviews. I feel I have to write this as my experience was too awful not to share with others so that they can save themselves from going through the same thing. It started with a strange discoloration of my skin and what I thought was allergies. All he did was give me a shot and some medication for the discoloration before sending me on my way. Soon I was back with oral thrush and worse allergies. He gave me more medication and drew blood for cancer as well as HIV. By the time I went back for results, which were all negative, I was so sick I could barely get out of bed. An intern walked in, listened to my breathing and immediately diagnosed me with pneumonia. Two months had went by without him even knowing and yet the intern was able to diagnose it in less than five minutes. All of the symptoms were present and I feel as though he ignored it. So… after that was all taken care of my immune system was knocked down by all of the unnecessary medication he had me taking before that. I developed a strange rash all over my torso and went to him yet again. He diagnosed it as ringworm and gave me a small tube of cream which I ended up having to refill five times because it was all over my body. When it wouldn't go away I finally got fed up and went to a different doctor. As soon as he saw me he diagnosed me with eczema. Two days after using the cream he prescribed and it was gone. I don't trust Dr. Ewing. To be blunt, he is a joke. I wasted so much time and good health in relying on him and he let me down. I can only imagine what it would've been like if I was an older person. He is going to cost someone there life with the way he handles his patients. Please consider going elsewhere.

I saw Dr. Ewing twice when my regular doctor wasn't available, and I don't recommend him. The first time I saw him, he never even looked at me! He spent the entire appointment sitting with his back to me, typing on a computer. I was there for what I thought might be strep throat, but he never looked at my throat, he just wrote me a prescription when I told him what I thought it might be. The second time I saw him, he received and sent more than one text message on his phone during the exam, standing in front of a sign on the wall that said "Cell phones must be turned off!" Appalling. It was really easy to get an appointment on the same day that I called, I guess because no one else wants to see him, either.
