Dr. Wing-Yin Leong, MD

My daughter's former doctor closed his practise so we needed a new doctor just for general stuff. I made an appointment for my daughter for a flu shot and to see if she needed any boosters. Dr. Leong asked why my daughter had not received gardasil, she is just shy of her 14th birthday. I told him we have decided not to give it to her. He began to argue with me and said I needed to have a serious conversation with my husband. I told him I had. We BOTH decided to forgo Gardasil for numerous reasons. After the appointment my daughter told us she would never go back. His bedside manner is awful! Do not go to this doctor.

Staff members are dishonest...

As a first time mom I had many questions about my baby and initially we didn't think there was anything different with him. But after he was about a month old I knew he didn't just have heat rash or baby acne, it was something else and I guessed eczema because of family history. However, Dr. Leong told me it was heat rash even though I told him of the family history. I had to do my own research and find out from pictures and testimony on the internet that it was horrible cradle cap and eczema my son suffered from. When I asked for a referral for a dermatologist and months later for an allergist he denied me. I never felt like he addressed or answered all my questions and concerns. For a while I thought I was just being a first-time mom who worried too much, but now I know better. I waited much too long to get my son the proper care he needed to be eased of his discomfort and pain and months of agony (sleepless nights and fussy days because of his constant itching, weeping skin). Dr.… Leong gave me a handout on how to wash and lather the skin but I had to dig deeper on-line and do my own research again. Then when my husband would come with me he was much more responsive and attentive. I thought it was just me until I spoke to another mom who has Dr. Leong and she had the same experience when her husband came! It was confirmed then that I had not been overly worried but that the feelings I'd had all along about something not being right and that he wasn't addressing our concerns adequately was true. I would never recommend him to anyone. Maybe he'd be ok if your child never has any issues. But if they do he doesn't think there needs to be any action until it's much too late. The specialist I eventually got to see (because my husband asked months later) said he was in danger of scaring because his skin was so bad. I felt horrible for so long trying to find out what to do for him and not getting the help I needed from Dr. Leong. Needless to say I have switched and am much happier. Do not take your child to this dr!

Dr. Leong's office gets very busy no matter the day or time. He rushes through the visits and he gets a little preoccupied. His appointment are like like 5 to 10 minutes apart and tend to be double booked. Most of the time he does a through check ups but he always fills out the chart while he is talking to you and the visit is about 5 minutes long. I have waited over an hour on a few appointments to go in the doctor's waiting room

I love Dr. Leong's philosophy that if they are active, healthy and happy don't stress. Sure, my girls don't fall into the norm of the height/weight chart for their age. They are both very active and healthy and Dr. Leong doesn't try to over medicate them the way alot of other asian doctors are prone to do. He listens to all my concerns and answers all my questions patiently. His office staff is very efficient and wonderful and I never have a problem getting an appointment. His early walk-in hours are also great. AND Dr. Leong is just a great guy. He's a dad himself and you can tell he really does like children!
