Dr. Andy is someone you can trust. He's sincere, dedicated, personal and an excellent dermatologist. The best you can get.

I've been a patient at Annacortes Derm for years, and i've never been disappointed - Dr. Hines is brilliant. He's thorough, efficient, and unique in his training and abilities. I've been to skin doctors all over the world; i travel to annacortes every year from Florida to see Dr. Hines.

Last week I underwent a cancer surgery on my forehead. Today they removed the stitches. Dr. Hines is the best of the best! He and his staff are caring and dedicated to insure the best possible outcome for a patient like me, 81 years old woman. It is ironic, that he is the only locally owned and operated dermatologist in Skagit Co. He does not have a glitzy advertisement like others in the area. Dr. Hines and his small staff made me believe that professional, attentive and personable medical care still exists. Thank you Dr. Hines and your staff for a job well done. I am sure you will have many happy patients.

My wife and I recently moved to Anacortes from California. Among all the things to do upon moving to a new area, we needed to source and select doctors of various specialties. My predisposition for developing pre-cancerous spots, particularly on my scalp and face, require that I see a dermatologist at least every 6 to 12 months. So, I read about Dr. Hines and his dermatology practice known as Anacortes Dermatology. A few days before my appointment, I spoke on the phone with a very knowledgeable member of the staff who was very cordial, respectful and informative. She made it easy for me to complete the usual pre-appointment paperwork online so that I did not have to do that in their office upon arrival. When I arrived at Anacortes Dermatology, I waited in my car until I was called upon by staff to come into their office. I was cordially escorted in and was greeted by Dr. Hines’ nurse who was very thorough and professional throughout my entire appointment. Then, Dr. Hines entered, and… without the usual Dr. ego looming largely, he greeted me and introduced himself to me as Andy Hines. If you have had an opportunity to read about Dr. Hines’ educational and professional accomplishments, you have no doubt concluded, as I did, that he must be a really, really competent physician. Well, not only did I experience his level of knowledge and competency, it was very refreshing to be in the company of a very special and very nice man. He explained everything to me very thoroughly, and froze a few of the pre-cancerous spots from my scalp and face. He clearly explained what would be involved in removing a sebaceous cyst from my chest, which I have scheduled to have Dr. Hines perform on 7.22.21. I have tremendous confidence in Dr. Hines’ abilities. I will follow up this review with a second one after my surgery. I also have a tremendous amount of personal respect for Dr. Hines who had to, and who chose to overcome tremendous obstacles in his life. Only those with a strong sense of purpose and honorable character and intent are capable of doing that.

When we moved to Anacortes a couple years ago I began searching for a local dermatology practice that was not part of a large, remote medical service organization where it felt like the doctor was rushing your appointment so they could get to the next one. A smaller, “hometown doctor’s practice” that provides a more accessible, personalized level of care was my preference. I selected Anacortes Dermatology. Dr. Hines is very responsive, explains any issues very well and truly seems interested in providing exceptional care. I have been very pleased.

Dr. Hines is the most approachable, down to earth physician I've ever used. I drive an hour to see him, though there is no shortage of dermatologists near my home. He's diagnosed problems with my skin that turned out to be demonstrably, potentially catastrophic. Half of medicine is peace of mind, and I'm absolutely satisfied that Dr Hines is more capable, honest, and direct than any other practitioner that I've encountered (and that's saying something).

I was very happy with my recent visit to Dr. Hines for my full body yearly scan, and also addressing some additional skin issues/concerns I am having. I have had a very difficult time finding a local dermatologist that I feel is doing a good job checking my skin and wanting to support my health. Since I have a history of multiple melanomas it is very important that I find a dermatologist that is knowledgeable and takes care to make sure I stay clear of future issues. Dr. Hines is the first dermatologist that I have found in the area, that took the time to do a thorough body check for the melanoma, and also checked for other skin issues as well. He is very discreet and definitely makes you feel at ease during the exam, which is helpful in such a vulnerable setting. Dr. Hines and his nurse were both extremely helpful prior, during, and after the visit. I was promptly called after test results were received back a few days later and put my mind at ease that the pathology was… negative. I am very happy to finally have a great dermatologist on my team here in Anacortes and would definitely recommend him to anyone.

I went in convinced I had a skin cancer on my nose. After being promptly greeted upon my arrival and taken into the examination room by Nurse Nancy, she took my information, reviewed my history and concerns, explained the process, and left me to get gowned. Dr. Hines came in when I was ready, introduced himself and shook my hand. He gently went to work, first and thoroughly examining my nose, face, and scalp, asking questions of me to pin point the area of concern. He was able to relieve my mind that I did not have a cancer on my nose, and further, to explain what it was I was seeing and to do it in a way that didn't make me feel foolish. Much appreciated. He then did a thorough skin exam, asking questions as he came upon things he needed more background on, finally identifying a spot on my forearm that had been there so long I'd gotten used to it. He determined it was an actinic keratosis, not a cancer, but a growth that might, in time, become cancerous. With my permission he… promptly destroyed it with a spray of liquid nitrogen. I left with mind relieved and grateful appreciation.

My sister and I just walked into Doctor Hines's office. Our father was being treated at another dermatology office and we were concerned about his care. Doctor Hines took the time to talk with us and look at the pictures of our dad's condition. He is in the process of being able to take Medicare insurance but isn't there yet. He would be happy to see dad as private pay (his office visit costs are reasonable) but any tests dad needed would be expensive. He recommended another office in town who took medicare. If we can't find a Medicare doctor to help dad we will certainly consider going back to Doctor Hines as private pay. Doctor Hines was willing to take time with two worried daughters. I imagine he is even more caring with his patients.

I appreciate so much about the way Dr. Hines practices medicine. Like his office space, Dr. Hines is professional yet very comfortable. He answers the phone or returns calls promptly, is able to schedule me quickly at times convenient to me - despite ferry challenges. He expresses interest in my general health & well-being. His examination is very thorough. His competent nurse is present to take notes & look up info, so that Dr. Hines can fully engage with me. After 4 general & family practitioners + 2 dermatologists, Dr. Hines finally got the diagnosis and treatment right. For awhile when a drug manufacturer spiked prices, Dr. Hines made the prescription ointment, affordably, for his patients. His care is genuine, his manner is kind, fun & respectful, and his medical skills are top notch. I have referred 6 friends & all are very happy with Dr. Hines. None of the usual administrative red tape & barriers exist in this practice. I genuinely recommend Dr. Hines with enthusiasm &… confidence.
