Dr. Woody Chang, MD

My husband has an injury around his spine. It is very painful. Prior to the injury, we planned a trip to South Africa-we are leaving in 2 days. Our Dr. is out of town and Dr. Chang is the dr. on call. I called Dr. Chang because the pain medication prescribed is not strong enough(its the lowest dose of hydrocodone). I explained the situation to dr. chang-that we would be traveling to a foreing country and that my husband needed something just a little bit stronger. We were concerned that it may be difficult to see a dr. in Africa. I also told chang that my husband would be getting an epidural when we get back. Unbelievably, dr. chang began to tell me all of these things: First he told me that the epidural would not work for my husband(he knows nothing about my husbands injury). Then the stammering dr. told us to cancel our expensive trip-still, he knows nothing about the level of mobility of my husband. It gets even more bizarre. dr. chang began to ramble by telling me that my husband… will not enjoy the trip even with pain medication(again-he knows nothing about my husband). The dr. continued to stammer-telling me how stupid he was and that he didnt know what to do-he called himself a loser-these self-deprecating remarks about himself continued on and on. I wish I could remember more. He did not know basic information about pain medication and how many one can take in a 24 hour period. He did not offer to see my husband. He did not prescribe the medication. He ended the conversation by saying 'oh god, oh god, i'm a bad dr. After all that, he finally said that our dr. would be back in town the next day. I asked dr. chang when my dr would be back early on in the conversation. Had he answered my question, he would have avoided telling me what a bad dr. he is. I gotta agree with him-he is a dumb dumb. BEWARE OF THIS DOCTOR! HE CALLED HIMSELF STUPID 2 TIMES! There is so much more but i think you all get the picture. He is an incompetent, insecure, unprofessional, and, admittedly, stupid person. And how do i know all of this? BECAUSE HE SAID SO!!!!! What if you were sick and needed a dr and you happened upon unsure and scared dr. woody chang for treatment? I guess you'd need to start praying real hard. He's down right dangerous(by his own admission). I am actually still in shock about the whole thing. I'm a nurse and my father and twin sister are both doctors. I can't wait to tell them. They wont believe me!!

Dr. Chang has cared for my elderly Mom in the hospital several times when she has been seriously ill. He is thorough, thoughtful, caring, and kind. He does a superb job of coordinating her care among the many doctors and keeps me informed. He takes the time to answer any and all questions we may have.
