Dr. Xavier Herrera, MD

I have been a patient of Dr. Herrera for approximately four years. He is my Primary Care Manager for my health care insurance carrier. I find Dr. Herrera to be knowledgeable and engaged in my health care. He listens when I have a concern or question, and seems to nearly always have some insight into my particular problem or concern. He doesn't pretend to have every answer, and is prepared to do some research and come back with answers. He always gives me the opportunity to ask questions, and he encourages discussion and interaction, rather than providing simple one-way diagnoses. I describe him as a health care strategist, thinking ahead, considering my particular lifestyle, problems and issues, and providing both point solutions and long-term adjustments to try, with opportunities for feedback and adjustment as required. I'm very happy, and hope to remain a patient for a long time to come. Dr Herrera's practice is, unfortunately, part of the University of Colorado Healthcare… (UCHealth) administrative system, that doesn't seem very good or efficient.

This gentleman comes across as the consummate professional and is charming in his interactions with the patient. However, if the patient suddenly takes seriously ill, he cuts off any contact and refuses to speak with the patient regardless of repeated requests. What's worse is that, once he realizes that you're not coming back, he will not order your refills of essential medications (blood pressure), putting your life at risk if you do not find a new doctor right away. So much for the Hippocratic Oath!

I am a retired MD, and i am so lucky to be his patients, there is something we call " Clinic Eye" that means,we have the right intuition of what is going with signs and symtoms, and then proceed with the right studies toconfirm the diagnosis. His "Clinic Eye" saved my life, i am a cancer survivor.

Is very knowledgeable and very caring

I went to Dr. Herrera, he sent me to get blood work. I never had any one follow through I finally called to get my results. They said I was fine and to come back in 6 months for more blood work. I wasn't fine, they didn't even ask how I was doing. They didn't even remember why I came To see the doctor. It's tiring and frustrating to be treated like a number, like part of the herd. I would not recommend this office it was a very poor experience

I felt very comfortable with Dr. Herrera from the first time I met him. He is a good listener very attentive and compassionate. I also enjoy his sincere smile and sence of humor.
