I received a open heart surgery as the result of being misdiagnosed for blockage of the left main coronary artery. This happened because Dr. Prida chose to over look a perfectly normal Fractional Flow Reserve. BAD BAD DOCTOR! BEWARE!

I had a heart catheterization done by Dr Xavier Prida. I was told by Dr Prida and Dr James Irwin that I would need emergency open heart surgery for a bypass of my left main coronary artery that it had over 70 percent blockage. I had the surgery done about one month later at Tampa General Hospital. I almost died after the surgery because of a bleeding artery. I had to be rushed back to surgery a second time to stop the bleeding. I was in the hospital almost a month and almost died. In less than a month I had gone from being able to jog and being athletic to a total invalid. I had lost over thirty pounds of muscle mass and could barely walk. I had a repeat heart catheterization done at the University of Miami five months after the surgery only to find out both my heart graphs were totally blocked because I was misdiagnosed and "NEVER NEEDED A HEART BYPASS'. During a heart catheterization there is a test called a fractional flow reserve that is supposed to prevent something like this from… happening. If this test is below .75 it indicates the need for a bypass if it is above this you do not need a bypass. My fractional flow reserve was .92 Both Dr Prida and Dr Irwin chose to overlook this! Was it money? Was it just that they are incompetent doctors? You decide! My life and my body will never be the same as a result of these doctors at Bay Heart Group. I have spend the last few years writing a book that will soon be published it will be titled " Measure Twice CUT Once". I was referred by family and friends including prominent heart surgeon. left two messages for "scheduler". They NEVER called me for initial appointment. Found a more responsive, caring, physician and and delighted I did. If you are too busy to call someone in obvious need for an appointment how can you properly treat them. I would avoid this obviously overloaded practice.

Dr. Prida is a sincere and caring doctor. He has too many patients and it makes his time limited. All his patients are important to him and he shares his work time with all equally. I would not have or feel trust with any other cardioligist. He is top of the line.

I read two other ratings of Dr. Prida with surprise... Then I saw they were based not on the doctor, but on the personal inconvience perceived by the patients in dealing with the appointment.This rating is about the performance of the doctor. I found him highly competent, friendly, and eager to discuss my medical situation to whatever technical level of detail I desired. Unlike many physicians, he did not "talk down" to me or seem in a hurry to get finished with me and get to the next revenue prodicing patient. I value this attitude highly. Excellent doctor.

with all the doctor in tampa if you want to be seen fast woth acuracy of diagnostic lose Dr Prida number he will be interested in you if he can bill more hours 1 month later he still does not know whats wrong with my wife Blows it off to gastro distress please dont use this doc he should not be considered
