Dr. Xiang Gao, MD

I saw Dr. Gao, while he was covering for another Dr. during the holidays. I was sent there by an oncologist to start my radiation treatments. I had one lymph node in my chest that was malignant. Dr. Gao said I would need to go to a surgeon to have it removed. I asked him are you talking about splitting my chest open to get one lymph and he said yes, and then I would heal and then have radiation. I told him this was not what I was told and I could not believe this. I asked if I just had radiation, like I was told then what. He said that they would have to give me very strong radiation to that area and radiation to the whole breast area and then I was talking the chance of damaging my lungs or implant. I told him this just does not make any sense. He set me up an appt. with the surgeon. I totally gave up because the scenarios that he painted were horrible, so for a week out of my life, my outlook was zero. I just wanted to die because of what he told me. I went to the surgeon and he… could not understand what Dr. Gao wanted and when he did, he said I should have never been sent there. They never cut a patients chest open for one lymph node, that is what the radiation is for. My radiologist come back from vacation and looked at everything and said they would only treat the lymph node and nothing else would even be touched. I am almost through with my treatments and no side effects. Everything Dr. Gao told me was totally wrong and charged me and my insurance $476.00 for giving me the wrong information.
