Dr. Yaa Noel Mcdonald

Dr. McDonald has to be the most patient pediatric dentist on this planet! My child has been to several pediatric offices but it was not until I took him to Joyful Smiles that I realized the value of a pediatric dentist. We were scheduled for a white filling and my child came in the office fearful, combative and uncooperative. Dr. McDonald took the time to get to know him and found out what he disliked at the previous dentist. She allowed him to play with all her instruments, the chair, bear everything. By the time she was done he just set in the chair and we got the filling done!! The thing I admired most about her was that nothing was rushed. She took her time, she had confidence in my child and was not quick to sedate him or take him to the hospital like so many other providers. She has a gift! People love her, and her team members are little replicas of her! They are all just as great! Joyful Smiles is by far the best pediatric dental office in the Southwest… suburbs.

If you’re looking for a great experience and personable doctors and staff I highly recommend Joyful Smiles. I went to another pediatric dentist in the area and they were so critical of the fact that my child had 5 cavities. Dr. McDonald on the contrary was so understanding. She helped to me look at his diet to find the possible cause. She also helped us establish ways to implement new healthy snacks. She’s really amazing and she cares about your child like it’s her own.

Dr. McDonald was so patient and kind with my little one. After going to several pediatric offices, we landed at Joyful Smiles in Tinley Park and the experience was amazing! The staff are friendly and very competent. Dr. McDonald is very knowledgable and takes her time explaining things. She makes sure you are comfortable and have full understanding before she begins treatment on your little one.

Dr. McDonald's office staff is horrible. I was charged for dental x-rays after my insurance paid for them at 100% and an appointment was made for a date when they weren't in the office. Do not go to this pediatric dental office. Very unprofessional and billing scams!

First impression office is very cute and staff very friendly. What I did not like is they do not like for parents to go back with their children. My case, my 5 year old needed tooth extraction. Assistant asked me why I wanted to go back with my child and if I had a dental issue. I said no, I just want to be there as comfort and he is very young. In my option, I am his advocate and this is a big deal for his first time going to the dentist. Also another thing that stood out. While I was sitting in their consult room, I heard a child screaming out in pain so loudly I could hear. It lasted a long time. He kept screaming it hurts. That turned me to the door. The reason I went there was Bc of their reviews. When I left her a review on her website I see it was not posted so I’m not sure “bad” reviews are posted.

We saw Dr. Owusu yesterday for the first time. My 9 year old son has had some major dental trauma, and she was so kind, patient, and comforting. She listened to his history and agreed that sedation was certainly in his best interest for procedures he needed done. I highly recommend her.
