Dr. Yadavinder Singh Sooch, MD

In June 2022 I visited the WellStar North Fulton Hospital ER with severe lower back pain, shortness of breath, coughing up blood and pain in my right leg. I was immediately diagnosed with kidney stones by the PA who did my intake. I told her it did not feel like kidney stones. She smirked and told me that +80% of men my age with lower back pain who visit the ER late at night are diagnosed with kidney stones. An hour later Dr. Sooch met with me and diagnosed me with kidney stones as well. I attempted to tell him it did not feel like kidney stones, and he gave me the same reasons as the PA. He also scheduled me for a CAT scan without contrast and bloodwork. I sat in the waiting room for over 4 hours doubled over in pain. The CAT scan revealed some dark spotting on both my lungs and shadowing where my pain was located, and I had a high white blood cell count. Dr. Sooch continued to insist that I had kidney stones and refused to entertain any other possibilities. I left the ER in almost as… much pain as I entered while my wife drove me home. I contacted my PCP shortly after and she reviewed the test results and scheduled me for another CT scan w/contrast. Upon getting the results she immediately sent me to a hospital in Kennesaw where I spent 4 days hooked up to a heparin IV due to having a pulmonary embolism in both lungs and a severe blood clot in my right leg. When I reviewed Dr. Sooch's notes in MyChart he indicated kidney stones as a diagnosis. After I complained about the misdiagnosis when I was healthy enough all references to kidney stones were removed from the notes section on MyChart for that visit several weeks after my visit. If there were a stronger word than incompetence to describe my impression of Dr. Sooch and the Wellstar system I would use it.

We were lucky to have Dr. Sooch in attendance last week when my wife went to the Penrose ER as a result of very bad drug reaction. He made a deep impression on me with regard to his expertise as well as his patient interaction skills. He's a credit to his profession.

Dr. Sooch is very kind, professional, a pleasure to have as a ER doctor. He spends lots of time with you that many doctors don't. He shows compassion about what is happening to you when your in his care. I've seen him many times for different medical problems. And each time I knew I was in good hands. He is a great asset to the Penrose/St. Francis hospital. I wished he had his own pvt practice, cause I wouldn't think twice about requesting him as a primary doctor. If you ever have to go to the ER know that if he happens to be on staff at the time and he is taken care of you trust me when I say again your in great hands. The staff is topic of the line too.

I was very impressed with his smooth and calm demeanor when both myself and family were in a panic regarding my condition. His confidence put us all at ease and I lived to type about it. I don't ever want to go to the ER again, but this is the only physician I hope to see if I do.

Going to the ER is never anyone's first choice when it comes to your evening plans, but you will be glad that you went if you get to see Dr Sooch. I was a patient in the ER last night with a throat that was swelling due to an allergic reaction. Dr Sooch was calm and kind as he explained what was going on with me, what my options were, and why he was suggesting a certain course of treatment. I (of course) had questions and objections and Dr Sooch answered each one with kindness and competence. I knew I was in good hands and went ahead with his prescribed course of treatment. I am grateful that I got such a fine doctor who listened, cared, and was very good at dealing with my situation.

He was so very kind and I felt very reassured that everything possible was being done to care for my condition.

Fantastic bedside manner and professionalism. One of the best medical experiences I have had.
