Don't go here unless you want a doctor who says your fine when your actual stinking blood work says otherwise. Worst experience of my life.

Dr. Shen is caring, comprehensive, and informed.

While I felt the bedside manner of this physician was majorly lacking, that is not the reason I won't be going back. I went to Dr Shen for a consult because I have Hashimotos. I needed a simple refill on meds and wanted to establish a relationship with a local endo. After reviewing all of my labs and telling Dr Shen of my symptoms and current med regimen, I was told that my condition wasn't "that bad" and I probably never needed medication in the first place. What?! I re-explained to Dr Shen all of the positive changes that treatment has had on my health: healthier skin, nails that did not break anymore, less hair loss, nearly zero brain fog, increased energy, no need for daily naps (im 26), and weight loss. I was then told that these were all due to a heavy "college" student schedule rather than Hashimotos. Dr Shen told me she "will not write the medications" for me, and that desiccated thyroid is bad for women of child bearing age and that I was taking too much Cytomel for someone my… size. I have yet to find any peer reviewed articles that back up these statements, and have confirmed with the official site of Armour Thyroid that thyroid hormone does not cross the placenta and should not be stopped in the event of pregnancy. Also, last time I checked, thyroid medication dosages were based on lab numbers and symptoms, not your height and weight. At the end of my visit with Dr Shen, I asked if she recommended any vitamins or supplements to help support thyroid function, and her response was "a multivitamin". My goal of this review is not to demean this physician, but to share my experience with anyone who is seeking an endocrinologist who will actually take the time to treat them individually and who actually cares about how they feel and what they say. Tread wisely with this doctor and educate yourself if you are seeking quality thyroid care.
