Dr. Yoon J Cho, DO

Went to Dr. Cho’s office last week for a health issue. She was very rude in how she talked to me. She also chastised me for not being able to explain the amount of medicine . Prior to my appointment she nor her staff bothered to tell me I should bring in my medicine for her to review. She talked to me like I was stupid. While examining me she was talking to her staff about what they wanted to order for lunch that day. I felt so uncomfortable being with her and in her office. I would never go back to her again or recommend her to anyone.

I am not the type of person who writes reviews on sites. However, with my appointment to this particular doctor’s office being what it was, I feel that I am required to do so in the hopes that someone will be spared the experience that I had gone through this past Thursday. It all started really sketchy. When I came to the office, in person, many of the lights were off. No one was in the waiting area. At first I thought that I was either in the wrong place or the place itself was being robbed. Then I was happy to hear someone speaking on the phone in one of the rooms. A woman, who I recognized as Dr. Cho from a picture I saw online, let me know that she would be right with me. When she finished her phone conversation, she let me know that the office was closed but asked how she could help me. I told her I was new to the area and looking for a new doctor. She once again told me that the office was closed but asked if I would like to make an appointment. I thanked her for helping… me to make the appointment and apologized for not knowing the office was closed. She led me over to the dark waiting area, turned on the lights, sat down at the computer, and finally introduced herself as the doctor. She told me once again that the office was closed today and that she was short staffed (she had an employee leave for some undisclosed reason). I filled out the necessary paperwork and scheduled the appointment. She had asked me if I noted it in my phone so that she wouldn’t have to write it down on a card. After giving me instructions on what to do for the appointment (I needed to get some bloodwork done), I thanked her again for her time and left. The day of the appointment came. I had taken steps to prepare myself for the bloodwork (never having had to get it done before and having a fear of needles). Needless to say, I was nervous and didn’t know what to expect. I asked my husband and some friends about it and they reassured me it was no big deal and was quick, almost painless. When my husband and I got to the office, we sat down and waited for my turn. About 10 minutes later, the nurse called me back to measure my height, weight, and take my blood pressure. Then it was time to get the bloodwork done. What a mistake... The nurse who was taking my blood told me that she didn’t eat breakfast that morning and therefore her hands were visibly shaking. She was having trouble getting the band tied around my arm and couldn’t find my vein in my left arm. We then tried the right one and she was able to find and clean a good spot. I focused my attention on the computer screen that was off to one side of her as she inserted the needle into my arm. After a short time, I safely assumed the worst was almost over...until she moved. Twice. The first time she couldn’t reach her cotton pad that would be needed to stop the bleeding in my arm and the second time was because she took the needle out and there was blood both splattered on the floor and running down my arm... She replied “Oops” and asked me to hold the gauze while she took more of the small cotton pads and wiped down my arm and floor. When I moved to help make my arm more accessible, I noticed that the blood had also run down onto my pants (thank goodness I was wearing black that day). She cleaned up some of the blood with the small pads (the blood started to stain the wood), put on a bandaid, and asked me then to go down the hallway to the bathroom to wash off my arm. I did and came back to wait in one of the rooms for the doctor. After 10 minutes, I heard the doctor go to the receptionist and ask for my paperwork that I had filled out three days before my actual appointment. THEY COULDN’T FIND IT! The documents that contained my personal information; MY SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER...missing. The doctor dismissed the urgency to find it and instead came to see me in the room. She had pulled them up onto her laptop screen and started asking me the typical questions. Smoking, drinking, sex, etc. She then asked me about why I wasn’t on birth control despite not wanting children and I replied that I work in a Catholic school. I told her that I don’t want to be on birth control and it wouldn’t be covered by my insurance even if I wanted to be. She then made a disparaging comment about me being a Catholic and wondered why I don’t just leave my job at the school and go to the public school system so that I could get the benefits needed to be on birth control. (Since when is a doctor supposed to give their personal opinions and question your life choices?) I told her I loved my job and left it at that. We then got into the second reason why I came in: weight loss strategies. I shared with the doctor that I have been walking at least 10,000 steps each day for the past month to get started and also tried to incorporate more vegetables into my diet as well as eating more healthy overall. She didn’t seem impressed by my attempts to better myself. She was actually quite condescending towards me as our conversation continued. Dr. Cho then told me that she has tried every diet there is and that I should either be on a plant-based diet or a low carb diet. I told her that a plant-based diet wouldn’t work for my lifestyle but have had success in losing weight on a low-carb diet for my wedding. She still pressed for the plant-based diet. Dr. Cho then preceded to show me pictures of Bob Harper (biggest loser guy who had a heart attack) and Dr. Neal Barnard (who was on a plant-based diet and looked “lethargic” to her). I was confused as to why she was showing me these pictures and continued to ask her about what I could do to lose weight. She once more pressed for the plant diet. At that point I gave up and just agreed with her. At the end of the appointment, I walked back to my husband who was patiently waiting for me in the waiting area and w

Dr. Cho is an excellent and caring physician. The staff is very friendly as well. I highly recommend this practice.

I tried to, and thought I had, scheduled a checkup with Dr. Cho. When I got to the office, she said this was a "meet and greet" and she refused to even listen to my lungs with a stethoscope (even though I have been suffering from bronchitis). She asked no questions, seemed annoyed to have to be there, and showed no interest in me at all. It will take 6 more weeks to (hopefully) get the checkup I was trying to get on my first visit.

I actually look forward to my visits with DR Cho. I am diabetic, and our visits are more conversational, informational ,less 'poking and prodding' Her small staff is very friendly, I am greeted with "hi, Mark" as I walk in the door. Samantha,?nurse? is very pro and speaks Spanish also, by the way. Have recommended to others. Can't speak more highly!

I am so happy to have finally found a doctor who listens to me and gives me suggestions to any needs or concerns that I might have regarding my health. I am diabetic and know the lifestyle takes constant monitoring and maintenance. She listens and helps me with new ideas and suggestions. I never feel rushed or aware of time. I am a senior and this means so much to me. Her office staff is friendly and most helpful whenever I've called and needed something. I've never waited for more than a few minutes to be seen, which is near impossible these days. Dr Cho makes going in a pleasure, she is always smiling, which eases the whole experience. As a senior ,needing to be seen more often now, I do not mind at all!!

She listens to what you say. i never felt rushed. she asks lots of good questions. she wasn't too quick to diagnose. she remembered me even after a year between visits. Very personable, very human.

I am a 42 year old obese female who has not had a physical in about 3 years. I was seeing her for the first time bc of an insurance change. I went in with a list of concerns. This doctor did little more than blood work and blood pressure measurement. 20 minutes...most of it spent making rude comments about my weight, and she was done. No pap! No mammogram ordered. No EKG! The only issue from my list that she really addressed was my sore throat. I asked how much time she schedules for a physical. She said 30 minutes. She was rude. Worse bedside manner EVER!! I WILL NOT RETURN!

Dr. Cho is a horrible doctor. She misdiagnoses frequently and breaks patient-doctor confidentiality. Sure she takes the time to listen but she has no skills, especially when it comes to treating serious ailments. I regret going to her and I hope you do not make the same mistake.
