Dr. Yoon-Soo Cindy Bae, MD

I should have listened to the yelp and google reviews when the mentioned she rushes through every appointment. Her bedside manner is atrocious. When she did my laser, she ran out the room the second she finished, not even handing me a mirror or asking me how I felt. I had to ask her what to do after the procedure with the redness as she wasn't going to give me any sort of instructions afterwards. Paying out of pocket for expensive procedures and having a doctor treat you this way is unacceptable. Find yourself a compassionate doctor that takes the time to hear you out and provide the service you deserve.

I've been going to Dr. Bae since 2018. I appreciate all of her care for the treatment of my acne. My interaction today completely ruined any relationship that I wish to have with her. I had been evaluating my options regarding egg retrieval/freezing, and I had been doing research from all angles. I called about a month ago about stopping certain meds. I considered all personal factors and decided not to do it. MY CHOICE. Today, I went to see her regarding laser skin resurfacing options. She asked me if I had done my IVF yet. I told her no. She told me that the laser wouldn't be a good idea since the hormones would cause my skin to darken. She told me that I should do the IVF since I "will regret it" and that I should spend my money on egg retrieval, rather than on my skin. I think she was trying to be helpful and kind, but she sat there, stared me down and expected me to explain my decision for why I wasn't pursuing it anymore. I believe I made it clear that I was hesitant to discuss… it, but she kept asking in the presence of two nurses. It's complicated and extremely personal, and not something I want to have to justify (society already puts enough pressure on women), especially to my dermatologist that I see 2-3 times a year who doesn't know ANYTHING about me outside of my skin health or my personal life. It's her choice not to do a procedure on a patient, but I shouldn't have to explain these decisions to a dermatologist, other than the simple fact that I made a choice not to pursue it. She really overstepped her boundaries with this one. This is enough for me to find another dermatologist. To top it off, her admin staff to schedule appointments are the absolute worst.

I had a terrible experience with Doctor Bae. After struggling with acne for over half my life, I was so excited to see such a highly rated dermatologist. After speaking with the nurse who was VERY kind about my medical history I had even more confidence she’d be able to help me. However that was far from the case. Dr. Bae stormed into the room, and without even introducing herself or saying “nice to meet you” immediately said, “Well you know what to do” in the most condescending tone. She said the only way to get rid of my acne was to go back on my birth control (which I had been told my multiple dermatologists before was not helping my hormonal acne any longer). After I had explained why I went off my birth control due to a history of Thyroid CANCER and already being in spironolactone and having multiple hormonal imbalance issues, she talked down to me, berated me, and judged me. She asked me what form of birth control I’m using????? She asked me if I have a boyfriend and how we are… having safe sex???? When I said we used condoms, she responded with “well, that’s not good enough” like it was any of her business??? I am a 25 year old woman. Why is my dermatologist so interested in my SEX LIFE??? And she is NOT an OBGYN. I kindly said I have a very qualified gynecologist with whom I discuss my methods of birth control. She continued to speak down to me and pretty much said there was absolutely nothing she could do for me unless I go back on BC. She said I’ll never have perfect skin and that I “shouldn’t be upset with a few pimples.” I have SEVERE breakouts. I mean- it’s 2022. Out of all of the topicals, lasers, chemical peels, pills, etc. she had not one other solution. I felt like I was sitting in the room with my pants down literally almost in tears. I drove all the way to Philly two weeks later to see a derm my friend recommended. I was shaking before my appointment from PTSD and so scared after what I went through with Dr. Bae. Luckily I saw the nicest woman, who did not judge me at all and prescribed a special face wash, acne cream, and had a follow-up plan. She was so excited to help me and get my skin to a good place. I am absolutely shocked Dr. Bae has any good reviews. Maybe she was upset that I wasn’t going in for fillers or Botox and I was just a waste of time. I don’t know. At the end of the day doctors aren’t here to judge us, or talk down to us. If you’re looking for a good dermatologist for acne please look elsewhere. I have never been so uncomfortable and humiliated in a doctors office before in my life. It’s taken me a few weeks to even find the words to write this. I’ve never experienced anything like that before with a doctor.

How can I even begin to describe how bad this place is. It's out of my way however my primary care doctor recommended it. When I arrived, the front desk staffer, Lila Rodriguez, first shouted at me that I'd cancelled my appointment. I had not. She said she had texted me and that I had replied to cancel, which was just bizarre so I pulled out my phone and showed her all my texts - none from her. Then they finally determined they could see me but didn't apologize even though they definitely never texted me. Moments later, Lila tells me loudly in front of the whole waiting room that I haven't paid my premiums and my insurance is expired - which is also totally untrue. For whatever reason, they said I had to be the one to call my insurance company and they could not do so (?!) which required me to be standing in the tiny waiting room in front of all these people broadcasting my private identification details. It was mortifying. I finally got through to a representative at my… insurer's and she was like you're totally fine, all paid up and current. I asked if she could speak directly to the front desk and one of the ladies working there took my phone to speak with the rep and Lila again freaked out, screamed at me to take my phone back and had the other woman sanitize her hands dramatically. It was a whole production. I know COVID is scary but this was beyond ridiculous and so humiliating. They refused to speak to the insurance rep who kindly offered to call the doctors office on their line. I asked Lila for a number to give the insurance rep again to call her and she screamed at me again and refused to give it and then suddenly, miraculously said she found my "new" ID number and I was fine after all. She then lectured me to contact everyone to update my ID number, super loudly, again in front of the whole waiting room. I was like what is this supposed new ID number? She told another staffer to write it down and guess what? It was the EXACT SAME NUMBER as on my card. Unbelievable. At that point, I was so tired and embarrassed and just wanted to leave but a different woman told me they'd see me next. Three people got called in between then and me actually getting seen. It was an hour past my original appointment when I finally gave up and left. Absolutely horrible.

Dr. Bae is a well-versed dermatologist who is patient, compassionate, and thorough. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dermatologist.
