Dr. Yoosif Abdalla, MD, FACP, FASN

Yoosif Abdalla MBChB, MD, FACP, MBA, is an assistant professor of medicine and the director of critical care nephrology in the Division of Renal Disease and Hypertension at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences and The GW Medical Faculty Associates. Dr. Abdalla received his medical degree, MBChB, from the Al-Arab Medical University, Libya. He completed his internal medicine residency at Louis A. Weiss Memorial Hospital, Chicago, Illinois. After a brief tenure as a hospitalist at Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, he went on to complete a nephrology fellowship at Geisinger Medical Center, where he served as the chief fellow. He also completed an additional fellowship in critical care medicine. He obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with emphasis in marketing and leadership from W.P. Carey School of Business, Arizona State University. Dr. Abdalla has been recognized with several accolades and awards from residents and fellows for his …clinical teaching and workshops. He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in internal medicine, nephrology, and critical care medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of physicians and a member of the American Society of Nephrology, American College of Chest Physicians, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Abdalla is an outstanding clinician with expertise in acute kidney injury, critical care medicine, kidney replacement therapies, including continuous renal replacement therapies (CRRT), slow extended dialysis (SLED), ultrafiltration, cardiorenal syndrome, modalities of renal replacement therapies in the intensive care unit, extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), and point-of-care ultrasound in the care of critically ill patients.
