Dr. Yuelin Xu, MD

I would not see Dr. Yuelin Xu again. I could not understand him. He was very fast with his exam. I wanted skin tags removed (sign on the wall after you got in the room that you must pay cash for this $110.00 for 15). I only wanted two removed as they catch on my bra. He said "don't need to remove, no cancer, come back in a year". He did not examine under my left arm where I had 17 lymph nodes removed, my lower belly or feet. I waited in the room over an hour in a gown. the staff was very friendly, but I would not see this doctor ever again. I also asked about product for my hair as I am losing it due to the cancer medication. AT that point he examined my head and said "no cancer" and left. I felt very rushed. I know they are busy, but his bedside manner was terrible. My head should have been examined as part of the routine exam. It always has been in the past.

I’ve seen Dr Xu on/off for several years. I went to him after issues with a different dermatology in Lansing years ago. I helped me sooo much. He listens, but is no nonsense and straightforward.

I went to Dr. Xu For a skin condition and he knew exactly what it was and gave me a treatment plan and it worked.I went back again for another skin condition and he is currently treating me. I find him very friendly and helpful and he’ll answer any questions that I have and I’m very happy with him

Incompetent, doesn't perform proper exams, give proper diagnosis or treatment. Had to go to a second dermatologist for a second opinion who confirmed his incompetence!

Didn't listen to history. Never got closer than three feet away. Told me my condition was due to a medication that I began TWO months after the skin condition. Did not listen to any of my puzzled questions because his answers did not make sense. For example he said his diagnosis was a condition that worsens with heat. I asked why cool temps and water aggravate it and he just repeated that heat would make it worse. Long wait, medical assistant was not interested in history of the last year with the skin condition only the last month or two. Really bad beside manner and I don't believe the diagnosis because it makes no sense. His explanations were the exact opposite of symptoms. He told me to go off a medication that I need for quality of life and told me to use another one that I cannot tolerate and when I tried to explain my history he said, "then just live with your skin like that." Truly awful "doctor"

He didn't listen to my history, was not interested. He demanded to know why I didn't have my meds list with me when I'd given it to the receptionist. He never examined me. From 4' away he decided the skin issue was from a medication that I began three months AFTER the skin problem started. He told me to go off the medication, which is critical to my health. Several things he said did not apply and when I questioned him about it he told me to either go off the medication or live with the skin issue. He told me to use a drug I told him I couldn't tolerate because of a genetic health problem and he just repeated that I should use that drug, which I can't tolerate. It was the worst appointment. I think a Gibbon throwing darts at a revolving wheel with random diagnoses written on it would be more likely to come up with the correct diagnosis than dr. Xu.

He had a very strong accent that was difficult to understand and a manner that showed his irritation when asked to repeat what he said. I share the disappointment that his patients who posted a review feel. On a positive note, he made a correct diagnosis of my condition.
