I'm a colon cancer survivor and visited the doctor to obtain a referral for a colonoscopy. She became enraged and tried to convince me not to get preventive care since I'm over 75 years old "and you have to die from something!! she screamed. I was handed a referral to a like minded endoscopist(who I'll never see) stating "he will explain everything to you. I was so shocked since this was the first time I ever met this doctor that it took a week of nightmares to become enraged at a doctor who did not think my life was worth prolonging so I can continue to enjoy the beautiful things that life offers and give back my own gifts which gives living creatures pleasure and solace. I was being encouraged to commit slow suicide by a "judge" of who is worthy of living and who is not with the deadline of 75 years of age. This was a very traumatic experience but since we were alone and it's her word against mine I could not file a complaint to the ethics board but felt it should be advised to be… less than 75 years of age or you might be tortured as I was.
