Dr. Yung Ah Park, MD

The Dr. Yung Park helped me with my bipolar disorder when I moved to Connecticut. She carefully modified my medications to provide maximum benefit. She provided kind emotional support during my low or anxious times. But that is only the beginning of the marvelous help she gave me. My memory and focus had been fading for some time and the reasons were not clear. She helped me eliminate a particular medication that I had taken much of my life and much of my memory and focus has returned. Dr. Yung Park is outstanding!Best

I regret seeing Dr. Park for treatment. She does not listen to your problems but rather rushes you to get to her next appointment. I personally do not recommend her to anyone looking to get treatment. It was a complete waste of time and as mentioned, I regret seeing her.

In 2017 I finally hit rock bottom - HARD. This was after decades of repressed childhood abuses (more than once), a bakers dozen PTSD incidents (both in ROTC and as a Contractor) that resulted in severe C-PTSD, more than 26 different alcoholic and abusive relationships with more than a few one night stands, the inability to live or love in any one city for more than a year at a time, occasional suicidal thoughts, the loss of both my parents in a four year time-frame, a family that was dreadful to me as their youngest sibling by almost 10 years, a fear of the future being worse than the past, anxiety so dark it could swallow up all the stars in the sky, a self destructive eating disorders that brought me from 160# to almost 300#, years of LSD abuse, severe psychosis, decades with major depressive disorder, ohh and don't forget the sleep terrors since I was a baby; Where does one turn for professional psychiatric help? I turned to Dr. Yung Park, and let me assure you she saved my life.… There is NO more caring, dedicated, and kind person that you can entrust your mental wellbeing wtth, than Dr. Park. I honestly believe those that have given her less than 5 starts, have their own issues, and they are lashing out. After 3 years of intensive therapy, and patience while we worked together to find the right mix of anti-psychotics, I am now a on the road to happiness. I'm nolonger psychotic, I am thriving, and now on only antidepressants and a med for the night terrors that lets me confront my demons in my sleep. I get to fight and WIN. I owe my sanity and my mental health to Dr. Park. If you need a psychiatrist, believe me when I say, you can trust Yung with your mind and body. She will Sherpa ("guide") you over your Everest size obstacles to better mental health. Its hard work, not just a pill, and she knows how to encourage you while still letting you experience the joy of hard work and personal accomplishment.

I've never felt the need to rate a dr, but she's that awful! Shouldn't be a doctor, didn't listen to me or try to get to know me, didn't give me basic med info. Didn't tell me about a potentially lethal side effect. I asked straight forward questions about med interactions and it was like I was speaking a different language. She recommended I take a med at night - I asked if its ok to take it in the AM bc its easier for me. Instead of explaining why it's better at night she said "you need to be an adult and just take it". I brought up that quote on our next appt and she said "I'm sorry you think I said that"I directly quoted her and she denied it. I asked her for more info on the meds she was recommending for me and she told me she doesn't like to give too much info because people with anxiety tend to look things up on google and get anxious. ? I'd prefer Drs advice over the web. I don't even have anxiety. She refused to give me a med that I've been on for years because I'm "too… anxious". Normally I trust and respect doctors. Worst experience ever.

Dr Park was difficult to deal with. Her ability to listen to a patient was frustrating. Her responses were out of line to the situation presented to her. What should have taken maybe an hour to discuss ended up taking eight hours. An entire night wasted. I got the feeling, the goal may have been to fill a bed. Her repeated suggestion was to stay the night, get a good nights sleep at the hospital. She had an agenda in mind when treating and I felt the information was forced into those holes.

Two members of my family were under Dr. Park's care. Each had similar experiences and no longer see her. She's rude to her patients (and their family members who join for a visit), she lacks empathy, she doesn't take good notes or remember things from the previous visit, and she's not open to learning more about her patients and their struggles. What's most disturbing is that she's supposed to be helping patients who are really struggling, but instead she adds to their depression and anxiety. Please choose another doctor.

Dr. Park is an amazing Physician and Psychiatrist. She always listens to her patients and is proactive in terms of understanding their therapeutic needs. She also shows her patients a great deal of empathy and is very easy to connect with.

Dr. Park is, I'm sure, smart and qualified. I just find her very hard to communicate with. In comparison to other doctors, she seems to be poor at taking in information about my life, changing her thinking, or really reacting to what I'm saying. As an example, at an early visit, she took down some incorrect information about my medication use, and even after getting it fixed in her records, she continued to refer to the wrong information for a number of subsequent visits. But it was even more true of emotional and life-history issues. She was very willing to adjust medications, but so much so that I almost felt I was trying to prescribe myself...she often didn't seem to have a plan of treatment. I just found her to be largely without empathy, though she wanted to be helpful and nice.
