Dr. Zachary Hernandez, DO

He spoke to me as if I was an animal and having to speak to me was an inconvenience in his shift! Struggling to maintain a proffessional composure! God forbid he had to actually help patients during his shift to justify the income he is receiving from being hired on staff! Absolutely disgusting. Refused to listen to me as I explained my history. I am not a typical patient so I do not have typical patients. Every patient is not textbook, there are outliers. And if you’re the type of doctor who operates solely on textbook thinking, then you should reconsider why you even decided to become a doctor in the first place. The hypocratic oath he swore to, he seemed to have forgotten … a physicians commitment to uphold specific ethical standards, including confidentiality, non-maleficence (“do no harm”) and respect for teachers. But I guess since it only specifically states respect for teachers, he felt no obligation to provide me, his patient, with any respect. 0/10 would definitely not… recommend! He also lied in his chart notes. He never inquired about whether I was feeling any better. And if I was feeling any better, why would I ask to see him again to reaffirm my expressed concerns?! The only intervention he provided me was a nebulizer treatment which did nothing to quell my symptoms. My bloodwork shows clear signs of renal distress and no additional tests were administered to ensure the status of my kidneys. He relied solely on the CT which can only reveal the physical appearance of my kidney but in no way reflects the destruction in internal function. My eGfr, and creatnine always look remarkable but if it was not for my persistence requesting a kidney biopsy, I would have no knowledge of the class III and class V kidney disease I have been diagnosed with. It was another doctor with similar disposition who refuted all my expressed concerns about knowing something was wrong. I may not know exactly what but I live in my body and I experience the sign it shows through symptoms which signals a problem is occuring. But thank God they are not a reflection of all doctors because I found a doctor who felt my position and concerns were reasonable and decided to order the kidney biopsy, despite what the scans and labs looked like. And lo and behold I was in fact correct that something was wrong and it would have gone untreated had I just succumbed to the doctors refusal. I attempted to plead with Dr. Hernandez for his compassion explaining to him that he is only meeting me for the first time but I have a very detailed history of critical issues which were not all eminently obvious, but required additional digging to reveal. He did not care about anything I had to say but became angry that I dared to “challenge” him by asking if there was anything more that he would be willing to do, as I would be leaving the hospital under the same condition I came in… with no intervention. He proceeded to insult me and refute the concerns of my doctor’s nurse because he stated he had never heard of any such Dr. Kramer and was not concerned with his opinion. The very well-respected doctor who was on staff for numerous years at the same facility. And is actually the head doctor leading the curreny car-t trial there, the cure of autoimmune diseases. And his accusation of my disrespect was based on me shutting down after all my attempts and pleas for compassion were ultimately refuted. And in feeling defeated and greatly disrespected I chose silence instead of an ongoing battle with him. I thought and still believe my choice was best. I thanked him, wished him well and stayed silent and that’s what he equates to being a disrespectful patient. Daring to advocate for my own health and life. God forbid!
