Dr. Zachary Quinn Posey, MD

I contacted Dr Posey's office at Alaska Urology LLC, after I had been diagnosis by my primary care physician. I requested an appointment to have a procedure performed. I reported as scheduled, filled out the initial paperwork and was escorted in (by a Physician’s Assistant). My height and weight were taken, and the PA verified my primary care physician. I was in the exam room for the outpatient procedure and the machine wasn't working. I was sent away and was told that the office would be contacting me when they had the machine repaired. A month and a half later Alaska Urology contacted me to a “reschedule” the procedure. I informed them that I had obtained a satisfactory result elsewhere and would not be needing an appointment with their office. A week after this I received a bill from Alaska Urology, after insurance for over $160.00+. When I called and asked the billing department what the bill was for, the billing manager informed me that I was "seen by a doctor" and "they were… legally entitled to bill me for the work performed". I expressed my concern because the reason I made the appointment was to have a procedure performed and it wasn’t. I was told that there is a lot of things behind the scenes that I (and this is where I felt that I was being talked down to) was unaware of that went into their billing, like the doctors’ time (I was seen by a PA), the examination and creating charts. And that a doctor’s office wasn't like any other business and because of the responsibility a doctor has and that a doctor can't get it wrong and go back and just change out a part like a mechanic is able to. I, in turn, asked about the value of my time that was wasted because their machine was not work and was told that that was "not the way things work". I would not recommend Dr Posey or Alaska Urology to anyone unless the office begins to work on the same principal as the rest of the world. If I go in to have my oil changed but the lift at the garage doesn't work but they check my coolant level and the air in my tires, I do not expect a bill from the garage because my vehicle "was seen by a mechanic." And I do not expect to be talked down to because the billing department has no idea what my history or that of my family/friends is.

I was sure glad that you were near the E.R. when i came in with the worst pain ever. you moved the stone with a stint and kept it flowing. one week later you went in and broke up that big stone. thank you very much!

I never feel rushed and I feel listen to - Great skills for doctor. Very pleased with his skill and his care.
