Dr. Zain Guduru, MD

I had a terrible experience with Dr. Guduru. He ordered expensive tests that led nowhere and kept increasing my medication without any clear benefit. He seemed to lack basic medical knowledge and provided no real solutions. I do not recommend him.

He wasn’t friendly or helpful at all. He told me he couldn’t help me if my condition was just muscular(understandable) and told me to request an EMG referral from my PCP to see if he could do anything. I saw my PCP about it and they tried to get in touch with his office. A few days later, my PCP’s office called and said Dr. Guduru wasn’t going to do anything, even though I didn’t even get the EMG confirm anything. I’ve since seen a neurologist in Georgetown. She was so sweet and helpful and she believes I have the condition I thought I did. She’s willing to help me find relief. He, on the other hand, couldn’t even pretend to care.

My mother saw Dr. Guduru who did not follow through with his colleague's original diagnosis of NPH, rather diagnosed her with CBD and told her to go home and rot basically. Actually, his words were that her brain was deteriorating and that there is nothing that can be done, that she'll be in a wheel-chair in 6 months. Mom fell several times this summer, after the CBD diagnosis, breaking many bones, including her ribs and back, as well as gashing open her arm and neck. I am not a doctor but everything I read about NPH described my mother (the wide-legged walk as if on a boat, the bladder issues and loss of mobility on one side). I wrote a full-page letter to the doctors at UK and none of them listened. I followed through with a new neurologist and neuro-surgeon and it was determined that mom does indeed have NPH, had a shunt placed and is now home and walking again and no longer in the pain that I found her in when I traveled to her home after she broke her back. My question for… Dr. Guduru and the other doctors at UK is why didn't they do a spinal tap or cisternogram on my mom to rule out the treatable disease of NPH???? My mom and I spent three months hospitalized in this journey to make her well. Isn't this the doctor's job?! He could have saved her from serious injury and pain?!

Dr. Guduru took time to listen to my daughter, Initially I was interpreting what she said and Dr. Guduru told to be Quiet, I stopped and smiled at him because I knew he had my daughters best interests at heart. She really felt good with him and that he listened to you. I would give him more starts if they were there.
