Dr. Zelalem Aberra Ashiny, MD

Best doctor ever. I came in to inova hospital via ambulance in severe pain. He did everything he could to help me. His bedside manner (sweet/funny) to his professionalism and knowledge of care needed. I am ever so grateful.

I’ve had the misfortune of being Dr. Ashiny’s patient twice at iNova Fairfax Hospital. He is arrigant, rude and uncaring. This last time I asked for a new Dr but he refused to release me as his patient. He would not listen when I spoke and would rudely interrupt me. He belittled me and my pain and let me sit there for 20 mins before doing anything to help me. The day I was discharged he completely mishandled my pain meds management. I was sent home on completely different meds than what the surgeon and I discussed. And since my surgeon was in surgery it was Dr. Ashiny’s decision. I spent the 1st 24 hours at home in excruciating pain. Of course it was the weekend so there was nothing I could do. How this man continues to be allowed to practice medicine is an absolute shock to me. He is terrible. If you are admitted to Fairfax and he is your Dr. contact a case manager ASAP and ask for ANYONE else.

AWFUL! My sister just underwent 28 hours of brain surgery, she has been having problems with pain management and being able to eat. Dr. Ashiny came in today to talk to my sister about it and ended up screaming at her and asked her if she’s mentally competent. He refused to talk to her surgeon in front or her and told my sister that she doesn’t own the hospital and if she doesn’t like his care he can kick her out. Wouldn’t speak to family either. Unprofessional, condescending and disrespectful.
