Dr. Zhen Hou, MD

My last 'visit' was scheduled by staff, forgotten by staff. I had to prove I had an appointment. Staff was patronizing, said they'd 'work me in' (this after I arrived before they opened), and put me in a room for 1-1/2 hours, when I'd had enough. I requested the doctor call me, but don't think they gave him the message. I'm still waiting. Perhaps doctor spread too thin. Very disappointed.

So walking into the drab office is a little concerning, but Dr. Hou was the pearl in the oyster. He was direct and explained exactly what needed to happen to turn my health around. He immediately identified my thyroid was being over-medicated and also said I needed Endometrial Ablation to reduce the severe anemia, as well as IV transfusions. He told me what steps I needed to take, and what steps he would take. I felt he took into consideration my symptoms and took time to listen. He was accurate and succint. Overall experience = depressing office, great doctor.

My dear friend in her early 40s got the news of her cancer with a straight slap in her face approach. He said u have cancer u can try chemo but I don't think it will work he never explained it by stage and when she asked how long she would have without treatment he told he he is not God and she was putting him on the spot. Sorry doc but it is part of ur job to know. She chose chemo since she is soyoung she had one treatment in the hosp 3 weeks ago and we r fighting 4 more pray 4 his patients they need it

I transferred from Dr. Stone's Practice at St. Vincent's due to lack of professional care. This Doctor takes the time to explain options and follows up! When chemo caused medical problems he quickly resolved issues.

During the first day of my hospital stay for a pulmonary embolism, Dr. Hau came in and introduced himself, and within minutes told me that my blood clots could be caused by cancer. Months later, in a follow-up office visit, he repeated the same thing. The trouble is that he had not ordered any tests and any other indicators that backed up his opinion during the months following the hospital stay. In addition, his medical office can be described as an upscale Greyhound Bus station. His staff could care less. They pretty much reflect his attitude. Negative.
