Dr. Zheng Zhou, MD

Dr. Zheng Zhou was my Oncologist/Hematologist throughout my entire chemotherapy treatment after recently being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma cancer. A CT scan of my head, neck, and chest, which revealed a large tumor, the size of a softball, leaning against my heart and obstructing my Superior Vena Cava vein. I was immediately taken by ambulance to a local cancer clinic where I met Dr. Zhou, who biopsied me right away and figured out I had Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. I was told I would need to begin chemotherapy immediately that day or run the risk of being intubated. The chemotherapy treatments would last through six cycles over the next five months. From the first day I met Dr. Zhou, while I was in my most dire state, he was supportive, reassuring, sympathetic, and completely transparent with me about everything regarding my condition, my treatment, the potential side effects, and more. Being told I had cancer and that I would need chemotherapy immediately was difficult for me… to accept, and one of the only things that kept me going was a constant flow of information about my treatments and progress. Dr. Zhou knew this and always made sure I had all the information I needed after each round. He spent extra time with me, in person and over the phone, to ensure I had all my questions answered and all my concerns addressed. Anytime I had a problem or new side effect, I would let Dr. Zhou know and he would respond to me right away, with detailed information and recommendations. Anytime I requested a call with him to get an explanation about a lab in more detail, he always made time for me and was sensitive to all my needs and concerns. Anything I ever needed throughout the duration of the treatment; Dr. Zhou did his best to deliver. Words cannot describe how grateful I am for Dr. Zhou’s determination and persistence that enabled me to fight my cancer. I do not think I would alive today if it were not for his immediate actions to diagnosis me, treat my cancer, and help me maintain my confidence and hope throughout this six-month ordeal. Dr. Zhou will be in my thoughts and prayers for the rest of my life.
