Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Durrani, DDS

I was a patient of Montgomery Dental from age 18 to about 40, so it’s not like I change dentists often. On one visit, the original founding dentist gave me to his new associate, Dr Durrani. I guess I became his patient from there on. They had me on every three months hygiene visits, and over the years I always complained about what I called my “problem area“. Dr. Durrani would treat the area never describing exactly what was being done or what was wrong. Until what would end up being my last visit with him. I felt like something was wrong in same area. He patted my shoulder gave me a prescription for antibiotic and told me he would take care of it when back from vacation. I returned two days later to see his partner with what the dental assistant confirmed was a fistula. Basically infection looking for a way out which was through the side of my gum above the affected tooth. it is pretty bad when even the dental assistant gives a bad feeling by being exasperated at what… she saw, shaking her head about the whole situation. The dentist seeing me asked what I was told when I was in two days prior and I told him nothing, just to take the antibiotics. He also said it was odd that Dr Durrani did not even write a note about the visit. I was offered further treatment there but declined. In my opinion the procedures offered should be done by a specialist and not a general dentist. I was seen first by endodontist and ended up at oral surgeon for extraction and eventually implant (self referral as of course Montgomery Dental wanted to keep this all in house). All of the specialists were appalled that this had gone on so long and they said the infection was years old. That must be healthy for my heart valves! Because of that my implant was more involved with grafting and sinus lift because I had little bone to work with because of that old infection whittling away at bone for years. The procedure offered by Montgomery dental would have maybe gotten me a few more months out of the tooth so I guess they would’ve been happy to take that money, then extract, then do implant which should definitely be done by an oral surgeon. It is so hard to find a dentist you can trust. I am lucky that a good friends husband is a dentist who advised me through this process, and the oral surgeon agreed. This webpage does not give the option of hitting zero stars, so unfortunately I had to hit the one. Don’t let the modern looking office fool you, the care is sub par. Maybe that is the only level of care this “Dr” is capable of or thinks people deserve.
