The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients across medical conditions between 48 hours and 6 weeks after discharge; the survey isn't restricted to Medicare beneficiaries. *CMS has created the HCAHPS Star Ratings in order to enable consumers to more quickly and easily assess the patient experience of care information that is provided on the Hospital Compare Web site. Star ratings also allow consumers to more easily compare hospitals.

great hospital experience, very bad billing department
Self-verified patient of Baylor Medical Center At Uptown - Posted on February 21st, 2019
Part 1, Actual service The staff was excellent, made me feel very comfortable with my outpatient procedure Part 2 Billing, Accounting etc. I am not sure what the disconnect between the hospital, my insurance and myself is. But the billing has one nightmare after another for almost a year. In short, my insurance submitted the EOB and payment. The EOB says my copay was $275, which I paid the day of my procedure. I keep getting a bill for around $1,200. The insurance company reviews and once again says my part of the payment is the $275. Numerous calls, messages left (out of about 20 calls over 6 months none are ever returned) When I do get through to someone, they tell me they do not have any EOB's etc. I fax them, Mail them, e-mail them, the Insurance company does the same. I follow up a couple of weeks later and it was acknowledged that they have them and my account has been sent to be reviewed. This was in October 2018, every 2 weeks I call and get a status update. When I do actually talk to some one and they tell me its under review, I still call every two weeks and get the same story when I actually talk to some one. Late Jan 2019 early Feb 2019, I get hold of a person and once again they tell me it is under review and they will call me when it is finalized. Not two weeks later I get a collection notice from a collection agency. I call again and now told there is nothing they can do as it hit their collection date. All information has been sent to the collection agency and my account has been closed. Call the collection agency, (same phone call problems as with the hospital) Finally talk to a live person that says we have no files here, only the letter outlining the amount owed. They request copies of the insurance EOB etc. I fax, e-mail and mail them. My insurance company also reiterates to me that I only owe $250.00 and sends them copies of the EOB. Called again and the person who I get, does nto know how to read the EOB and cannot even tell me what the date of the EOB or the correct date (1 date) of service. They now put it into account dispute and said it will go back to the Hospital. not sure what good that will do. Oh as a sideline, I have been informed by the insurance company that they have filed a non compliance complaint against Baylor Medical with Medicare.
