What is HCAHPS?
The HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Survey, is a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology that has been in use since 2006 to measure patients' perspectives of hospital care. The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients across medical conditions between 48 hours and 6 weeks after discharge; the survey isn't restricted to Medicare beneficiaries. You can learn more here.
*CMS has created the HCAHPS Star Ratings in order to enable consumers to more quickly and easily assess the patient experience of care information that is provided on the Hospital Compare Web site. Star ratings also allow consumers to more easily compare hospitals.

Stay away if you can. This Hospital was a nightmare. My father, a 70 year old man with Parkinson’s, was in the ICU for 10 days after an open heart surgery. We were calling all day every day and felt like we were “chasing” the nurses over the phone to get an update on his health. Every single time we were placed on hold for 20-30 min and sometimes hung up on by one of them. In three different occasions I drove crying to the hospital to ask the front desk to get a hold of a nurse for me because I couldn’t reach anyone over the phone. They physically restrained my dad without our knowledge or consent. It was a nightmare. Doctors were highly praised for their competency afterwards, but we never heard from any of them during his ten days in the ICU. There was one cardiac ICU Nurse named Michael who actually cared and brought us news and kind words one night when I went to the hospital. He was the only one who reached out to keep us updated. Everyone else’s M.O. was “he’s fine” when later we found out his complications ran much worse than we were told about, and their treatment of him inhumane. There are so many complaints about this hospital, hopefully the director will address these problems and not just sit there and watch families being desperate without information about their loved ones when they're making so much money with these procedures. Their treatment of families and silence where patients conditions are concerned at a time where due to COVID-19 we can’t be physically there is abhorrent.

Bills and more bills from them
Self-verified patient of Delray Medical Center - Posted on March 4th, 2021
This Delray Medical center is very dishonest with patients, received bills that double their up front estimate and are rude and they lie to us and don't accept settlements for bills I was not supposed to receive. Very disappointed and sad. DO NOT GIVE THEM POSITIVE REVIEWS UNTIL YOU ARE SURE NO BILLS ARE COMING TO YOUR MAIL BOX FROM THEM.
Very poor food service

Your search - The nursing staff is top notch but I must state that the food service system is very broken. My wire was not allowed to eat or drink for 3 days and finally she was allowed a full liquid diet. She is allergic to certain foods and the food service initially delivered a tray that she could not eat. We were told by the delivery person to call downstairs to order another tray. There is only an answering machine and we left 5 messages over about 30 minutes. We also told the food distribution person and she said she would go down and get her the tray. About 45 minutes later she was still picking up empty trays from the floor and she said she would go down immediately to get my wife a tray. She never returned. We called for a supervisor and still no rerun call. We finally went to the charge nurse. It is now 8:30 PM and my wife feels like she is being tortured. Her nurse brought her some crackers but as you can see this is why I say the food service system is broken. I can only hope someone from the hospital reads this and takes some action as the medical staff is first rate by our experience is going to be about going so hungry. - did not match any answers in Maps User Contributed Content Policy Help.
