Quality Care

Our son experienced an emergency laparoscopic appendectomy at this hospital recently. He was in the hospital for over a week recovering. The surgeon Dr. Coates, provided excellent care. Our son's nurses both in the adult unit (RN Natasha) and pediatric unit (RN Rich) were attentive, supportive, encouraging, kind, and compassionate. Our environmental specialist Anthony was helpful and informative in acclimating us to our home away from home. The music therapist was fantastic in creating healing and calming environmental support. The physical therapists were excellent in scaffolding exercises to support progress. We appreciate all the staff at MSJMC for their care and concern provided at a critical time of health needs.

Piss Poor Service

Since December my sister has had less than mediocre care. She has a illness that is causing her a great deal of pain and since the doctors say they have done all they can do the hospital discharged her in an unsafe manner causing her to return back to the hospital in a manner of 10 hours or so. The CEO Michael Korpiel has not done much(I believe) to make sure his nurses and doctors make my sister as comfortable and have dignity while at this establishment. This place lack simple things like ( turning my sister in a timely manner ever two hours, or by giving her medication at the same time ever day like it should be administered, or by giving oral care, bathing her) a few doctors have giving up on her while some nurses have hung her medication but never attached to her port.this team of doctors, nurses, palliative care, case managers, and supervising physicians are great at having a meeting to discuss care the patient But will change what was agreed upon whenever they choose to ( which is wrong)This hospital is slowly using euthanasia on my sister (which is against the law) I say this because they will take her off certain medications for a day or so then put her back on it if one of my family members complained or ask what happened to a certain IV, drip, or hear monitor. They have put the wrong N G tube in her nose and the nurse feeding her does it fast which caused the tube to clog up.The staff (nurse, doctors, caseworkers, care providers) will talk about my sister status in the hall of the 4th floor which I believe is against HIPAA and laugh as if my sister's life is a joke. You may ask, why is she still at this hospital? We have asked the hospital to transfer her to UC Davis but she was denied the day she was supposed to be transferred and the last time they transferred her to a skilled nursing facility nurse Christie said of she needed to come back to a hospital the ambulance would bring her back to Mercy San Quan because it's the closest hospital. My prayer to God it that these medical workers would understand that a patient should be treated with respect, dignity, awesome healthcare until the patient no longer needs care. Overall I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with the service my family has/is receiving ...no stars should be an option...horrible, horrible, just HORRIBLE!!!
