What is HCAHPS?
The HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Survey, is a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology that has been in use since 2006 to measure patients' perspectives of hospital care. The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients across medical conditions between 48 hours and 6 weeks after discharge; the survey isn't restricted to Medicare beneficiaries. You can learn more here.
*CMS has created the HCAHPS Star Ratings in order to enable consumers to more quickly and easily assess the patient experience of care information that is provided on the Hospital Compare Web site. Star ratings also allow consumers to more easily compare hospitals.
** HCAHPS data is broken down into the following buckets; definitely recommend, probably recommend, probably not recommend, definitely not recommend.

My Husband and I had fairly good care at this hospital. My husband was hospitalized there several times and myself has had 3 surgeries on my pancreas. So I think (I'm not even sure) we have like 7 bills there. I have attempted several times to set up a payment program, would like all the bills combined, I'm unable to keep them straight. (Not to mention my husband has had 4 back surgeries at different hospitals and me a hip replacement). My problem is we have so many medical bills at different hospitals and doctor clinics I'm getting things mixed up. I have tried so hard with sherman hospital to get our bills combined so I would just need to make 1 payment. I even tried patient relation department. I've decide there's very few nice people left in our lives, simple they don't care and very rude and condescending. We have good insurance so they have made thousands from us. But every time you try to call I'm on hold for at least 15-20 minutes then the recording says leave your name and number and we will call you back, they don't. The few times I have talked with them is a big waste of my time, they do not work with you. I have been so stressed out about all our bills and trying to work with people. I drive a 2001 Honda and my husband drive 2004 truck, we haven't been on a vacation or even out for a nice dinner. Sherman hospital business office notified me 3 days ago to ask me about our bills and it just shocked me, I again explained our situation and how I've tried to work with them, she hung up on me. Today I get 3 separate collection agency bills from this hospital. My husband was due for a surgical procedure to be done in April, of course we had to cancel. We both really like the doctor there but we can no longer see him. With my pancreatic ducts that get messed up there will be more surgery in my future but I'll have to figure that out with another doctor. I have cried, lost sleep and very down in the dumps I've had to take a couple of weeks and not deal with any medical facilities. I don't see any help with this, nobody cares anymore. But sherman hospital, congratulations, you won, you have been the worse!!
