We took my father who is 80 yrs. old to this hospital on Sat. Oct 21st, 2017 -he had been diagnosed with a UTI a few days before and was on antibiotics, he started having very bad chills and shaking and throwing up so my mother choose to take him to the ER. She arrived there about 7:30pm, and my husband and I got there about 7:40. They had checked in and he was feeling really bad and told them he needed to lay down, they got him a wheelchair. After we arrived several more patients came in after us, all those patients were called to the back before my father was. After about the 3rd one was called, we inquired as to why he had not been called. We were told that those patients were being put on beds in the hallway and they were waiting on a room with a bed for my Daddy. Long story short he was finally called to the back, to a room, around 10:45. We waited for over 3 hours just to be called to the back!!!!!! His care in the back was ok, they had to do some tests and some blood work, which was very very slow getting done. The nurse who started his IV seemed very inadequate, she left all her supplies and trash laying on the counter and she had to stick him 4 times before she got it in the right spot and then there was blood all over the tape and stuff that she used. After a very long night around 6:45 am it was decided that he would be admitted, he was finally taken to his room on the floor around 7:30. Someone in the back told my mother that they were short staffed and that was why it took so long. Our experience with this hospital ER was very bad, one nurse who worked up front was extremely nice and kept apologizing to us for having to wait. It was very very cold in the waiting room and she even got me & my husband blankets while we were waiting. She left sometime after midnite and the guy that took over her spot was not very friendly at all. He had a patient fall in the floor and he told him I would try to help you up but I'm not allowed to and just stood there and looked at him, finally the guy decided he could get up and the guy that worked there did get him a wheelchair. Early morning a lady walked in the door and said help me, help me, please I can't breathe and she just sat down in a chair. The guy behind the desk never made a effort to help her or even try to comfort her, he called someone from the back to come up and help her. There was another lady that was in a lot of pain, and while she was waiting the complained to the guy that it was freezing in there (she was actually shivering) and he did not say anything, he just looked at her. I gave her my blanket because she was so cold. Needless to say this was a very bad experience, most of the nurses in the back were very nice, and treated my Daddy very good. But all the waiting around was terrible!!!!! He stayed in the hospital for several days and I have to say the care he got while he was there was very good. All the nurses and doctors were very nice and did their jobs very well. Dr. Sims even took the time to talk to me on the phone when he came in to talk to Daddy. I have no complaints about his care after he was admitted, but the ER experience was a nightmare!!!!!
