The HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Survey, is a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology that has been in use since 2006 to measure patients' perspectives of hospital care. The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients across medical conditions between 48 hours and 6 weeks after discharge; the survey isn't restricted to Medicare beneficiaries. Self-verified patient of Singing River Hospital - Posted on April 17th, 2017
Since Singing River decided to make the grave mistake of letting Dr Millette go I have received the worst care I have every received in my life. I was not notified that Dr Millette had been let go. I happened to call the week before I had a regular check up appt and also another appointment for injections. When I called that's when I was told he was gone. He'd been gone for almost 4 weeks at that time. In 4 weeks they had PLENTY OF TIME to send out a letter to his patients. Then we were told just to hang in there because they were bringing a new Neurologist on staff. I jumped through all their hoops and began seeing the Nurse Practioner. She was actually great and so helpful. I scheduled my injections to be done by her. AGAIN, I called the office to ask what time my appointment was only to be told she was gone! They told me she had only been gone 2 weeks so they didn't have a chance to get out letters yet. I call BS. I looked into it and Kennedy (the Nurse Practioner) had actually been gone almost a month exactly. I had no refills on medications. I didn't know what to do. Staff informed me to make an appointment with the Dr who was going to fill in until the new Neurologist was hired. They explained this visit would be a ONE TIME VISIT ONLY FOR REFILLS! I went to the appointment. The staff wasn't the actual staff of the office. It was some other group of people. The Dr was an INTERNAL MEDICINE DOCTOR. They had no access to my medical records or my rx information. Singing River had shut down the computer system for that information even for the Dr. I had to tell him which rxs I needed refills on. He didn't know what dosage or how many times per day. I had to tell him. This wasn't HIS fault. He was doing all he could to help. I told him what I needed and told him the truth but the situation was set up so badly someone could have lied and said anything about their medications. This Dr told me this wasn't actually a one time deal to get a refill. He said if I wasn't able to get in to see a new Neurologist in time then I could get another refill - just call and make an appointment. A week later I noticed the Dr forgot to write one of my rxs that day. So I called the office to let them know and see if I could pick it up or if they could call it in to my pharmacy because I didn't have an appointment yet with the new Neurologist I was referred to. During that call I was told there was no Doctor available to do anything about rxs. There was no Doctor there at all. I have SUFFERED for weeks waiting for the appointment with the Neurologist I was referred to without my proper medications. It is now mid April of 2017 and I have been under the most stress I have ever been in since November of 2016. My life has been in complete and total limbo not knowing what was going to happen next thanks to Singing River. I've been told I was NOT Dr Millette's patient. I was Singing River's patient. I was denied access to my own medical records TWICE. Now I have finally made my appointment to the new Neurologist only to find out Singing River didn't even send HIM my medical records. This Neurologist is affiliated with another hospital so he has no immediate access to the records. Therefore he couldn't write any rx for me or do anything until he received my records. He agreed to do my injections but not that day. He wanted to read exactly what Dr Millette did with the injections first which of course required my medical records. So I left the appointment with my new Dr with basically NOTHING except once again being told I have to WAIT because of Singing River. I have never been so disgusted by a medical facility. I have never been lied to so much by a facility and its staff. I haven't even covered the tip of the iceberg of issues here. I do not trust Singing River. I do not trust their administration. I cannot trust their staff because the staff is ordered to say whatever administration says regardless if it's the truth or a lie.
