Cannot get any answer for death of my father

Having contacted the 3rd floor nursing manager and the director of medical staff Tony Schuster over a period of 3 months still no answer to why my father died while in their care. There is no patient paperwork for the last 2 days of his life while under Mease countryside’s care. How does this happen? Terrible care!

The ER Misdiagnosed my 13 year old with a Baker's Cyst and sent us home telling us to wait it out. Luckily, I took the xray to her Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Kortright, who immediately saw a bone infection that broke through into the knee joint. He aspirated the joint at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital which clarified infection. He then did emergency surgery to clean the infection out and put her on antibiotics for 5 weeks. I could see the dark spot on the xray and the breakthrough and I am just a Mom! What is wrong with this radiologist! I was warned by friends not to trust Mease Countryside and I wish I would have listened. My daughter could have died from "waiting it out."

I went to the Mease Countryside ER last Sunday with horrible periumbilical and right sided abdominal pain, fever, nausea and decreased appetite. Upon arrival I described my pain as fear of appendicitis. I waited over an hour to get into triage at which time my BP was 208/98 and I was in a lot of pain. They sent me to the waiting area for another 90 min and never checked on me. Once I was finally brought back into the ER treatment area there was confusion as to what rooms were available. Eventually, I was put in a room in the back corner and forgotten. My fiance' eventually went out to find a nurse to report my pain, dehydration, etc. and finally our nurse came in to complete a further assessment. EVENTUALLY I was admitted to the floor for additional observation. 2 days later...felt better but could not see a MD, could not get discharge instructions, was unable to sign discharge paperwork. I never even got a definitive diagnosis. Not sure if I could confidently recommend Mease Countryside Hospital to anyone since the care was so poor. I would consider this malpractice and possibly Medicare fraud since very little was done to help my condition and I am sure Medicare will be billed. What I have reported is but a brief statement of many errors committed while I was at Mease Countryside for 48 hours.

Had two back surgeries at Mease Countryside; nursing staff excellent, cafeteria and cafeteria workers excellent - balance of staff an ongoing problem. Apparently the hospital is fragmented, with doctors, departments, billing, etc. all their own separate entities - frustrating! Had scheduling and billing problems. called Customer Advocate - no return call. Wrote Lou Galdieri, President - no reply. Called Lou Galdieri, President - no reply Still fighting excessive billing but with no assistance whatsoever. There are numerous hospital options in the greater Tampa area - please search out an alternative.
