What is HCAHPS?
The HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) Survey, is a standardized survey instrument and data collection methodology that has been in use since 2006 to measure patients' perspectives of hospital care. The HCAHPS survey is administered to a random sample of adult patients across medical conditions between 48 hours and 6 weeks after discharge; the survey isn't restricted to Medicare beneficiaries. You can learn more here.
*CMS has created the HCAHPS Star Ratings in order to enable consumers to more quickly and easily assess the patient experience of care information that is provided on the Hospital Compare Web site. Star ratings also allow consumers to more easily compare hospitals.
** HCAHPS data is broken down into the following buckets; definitely recommend, probably recommend, probably not recommend, definitely not recommend.

They lied on my discharge papers

Chestnut Hill Hospital, won’t test a patient for Covid-19 unless they are being admitted in the hospital and put on a ventilator, or maybe they won’t test black people. I just read my discharge papers and noticed they changed the reason(s) I came to the hospital: Chest pain, trouble breathing, headache, sore throat, pain in my extremities, and a nasty cough. However, my discharge papers said “reason for visit” -cough. “Diagnosis” - cough with exposure to COVID-19 virus. The funny part is I’ve been isolating for months, so how could they determine I had exposure, yet refused to give me a test for it??? I was in the ER, for covid symptoms. My treating physician asked me: “you know what’s going around? You probably have coronavirus. But we can’t test you unless you needed to be admitted to be on a ventilator.” The doctor was nice. He said “if it were up to me, I’d give you the test, and everyone else that had symptoms.” 5/3/20 8:25am. The staff warned me that this might happen. They only test patients that need ventilators. It’s unethical, wrong, and misleads and shadow the actual number of Covid-19 infections. My home hospital Chestnut Hill is Trash.. God bless us all.

Worst hospital experience ever
Self-verified patient of Chestnut Hill Hospital - Posted on July 18th, 2019
Worst experience at a hospital. Upon arrival my blood pressure was elevated in which after putting me in my room, it was never checked again. Even before discharging me. Dr. Eisenbrock gave no consideration to my concerns and gave me a "G.I Cocktail" which made my body start shaking, my eyes started tearing, and it made me feel like I had to vomit(which I cant do, due to a previous surgery). The nurse upon seeing this and talking to the doctor gave me a Zofran, which did nothing. I told them this and asked if this was a normal side effect. The nurse said no but she hopes I feel better and discharged me anyway. I then found out that part of the medication affects your nerves and because they never asked me my health conditions or family history, they didnt know I have several neurological conditions in my family. Which I assume is the reason for the adverse reactions. My boyfriend then had to drive me home in which I was up for hours as my body went through random pains and cramping. Conditions that were not a problem before arriving. And the reasons on my discharge paperwork as to why I should come back to the emergency room, was the same conditions in which I left with. And they did nothing.
Care was above my expectations
