My number 1 choice

Being born and raised in Waterbury we always went to st marys. As an adult I moved up to Litchfield. For the life of me I don’t understand how st marys and Charlotte Hungerford stay open! I can die on my way down but I don’t ever want to get any care through any hospital affiliated with Hartford healthcare or st marys. I have always encountered friendly and helpful nurses at Waterbury hospital. St Mary’s employees be it the cleaning woman or nurses, they stand around looking at the patients, instead of doing their jobs. Charlotte Hungerford charge you for a psychiatrist visit when you actually saw a aprn plus hidden facility fees.

COMPLETELY HEARTLESS

This dirty shabby hospital was willing to leave a 71 year old senior that needs a cane to walk, utterly stranded! He was brought by AMBULANCE and not by choice! Horrible.... Nobody cares there, people are just dollar signs. Go to GRIFFIN if you can!

Getting information on patient

I totally understand that the nurses and everyone is busy but when y are on the line waiting to get an update someone comes to phone after waiting 15 minutes and told that he wasn’t their pt and to call back!! Very helpful don’t y think!! Talked with someone believe to be the supervisor got some information about pt but it would have been better to talk with his caregiver. I don’t feel that anything was put in place to help the frontline helpers to be able to do their job extra people to answer phones change pt nurse ratio because they now have to update families in addition to everything else. Get more help!!I kno fam can be trying but think about how they lighten the burden to the staff. Can talk directly to care giver , able to help with the patient even getting them a drink is one less thing staff doesn’t have to deal with. Terrible for everyone but don’t tell me how busy y are! Again get more help these are unprecedented times and doesn’t seem that new protocols are in place to accommodate patients, staff and families

Waterbury Hospital ER review

The dirtiest, most unorganized mess I have ever encountered. Extremely scary when you have serious conditions that must be treated by starting in an ER. Understaffed and ill staffed. I remember when this was a safe place to go when you needed care. It is no longer that. Once admitted, the staff were exceptional and tried their best to help and reassure. Still even then the rooms are filthy. Very scary experience for anyone especially a person who is not usually ill enough for a hospital ER visit.

The E.R. is one of the worst in the area. Pack an overnight bag for your wait to see someone. Wait again to actually see a doctor. Think you'll go to a room? Maybe after hours of residing on a gurney in one of the hallways. Staff is far from friendly and doctors have an 'attitude'. This used to be a great hospital but unfortunately that reputation is long gone. My advice, go to Griffin Hospital in Derby if you can.
