Billing Disasters

I had surgery in July/2020 and left Abrazo West as planned Aug 2nd - All went well. Then in January they billed me for the patients part of the surgery and 2 patient responsible parts for two different ER visits. Not a problem, all correct - had my AT&T Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) send Abrazo (3) checks - "pay the provider" directly. However, I was getting phone calls from Abrazo that these have no been paid - collection! Following up with the AT&T HRA, I found these checks to be sent and CASHED by Abrazo in March 2021. Still they call. and send bills for two of the service dates. Has the other been paid? found? You will never know as one phone number connects you to people who know nothing of other contacts, there is no call history kept that I can detect. Now, June, I am in constant battle to help find the money/checks they received (numbered checks, numbered bank transactions) in THEIR system. I have a stack of paper that could insulate a room. I have provided the trace of the checks, have the transaction/check IDs as well. They did suggest I just pay it again, and once they get this right, they will issue a refund.. Would you trust that? It's a shame too,. the medical staff was great.. The hospital should be avoided - they will tell you billing things you know are not true - insisting they are - you risk your credit rating as they demand payment, after waiting 6 months to even bill me. Then they loose the payment. Never, never again.

Horrible hospital!

My phone and wallet were stolen the 1st 3 days I was there. I spent a month there, and was never given a shower. Nothing was ever done to recover my personal belongings. When you read 15 bad reviews, believe them. If you have a choice, DO NOT GO THERE!

Early dismissal

My mother was brought there very ill with COVID, and they insisted on dismissing her too soon to a nursing care facility. She got much worse and is now dying. Had she been kept a little longer, she may have improved. Stay away from here.

Unprofessional

Abrazo west was a horrible experience for my father. He was hospitalized there due to liver failure (which we didn’t know at the time) and lead my father to believe he was going to be okay, he died a month and a half after discharge. Upon admission, my sister spoke to the nurse and requested translation services, it never happened. She called the next day and requested them again.. never happened. I got deemed the contact person, so I called on the 3rd day and inquired if they had given him translation services and they said there wasn’t anything in his file, I demanded that he have those services and they finally gave him a Spanish speaking nurse. They didn’t feed him or allow him to shower for 4 days. Although this was medically necessary, he wasn’t aware of that because he never got the translation services that were requested. The doctors told him they suspected it was cancer, so I personally reached out to an oncologist friend and she equipped me with an array of questions to ask. I called one evening, spoke to nurse Matt, and asked him the questions. He didn’t have answers to my questions. Furthermore, my father noticed he was treating him differently and eventually overheard him talking about my phone call to his colleagues. Needless to say, pops asked me to stop calling because they only took it out on him. We feel as though this hospital treated out father as the one to blame for his liver failure, which was caused by an aggressive liver cancer. Abrazo west was unkind, unprofessional, and uncompassionate when it came to our fathers care.

One Star

I had the unfortunate opportunity of meeting this family nurse practitioner, Meaghan Payne, when I was admitted at Abrazo West Campus Hospital in Goodyear, Az. My pulmonary doc did not want me to be released; the hospitals administration calls me on my room phone to inform me, they the hospital retains the right to decide when a patient is released. Their family nurse practitioner decided I was to be released, never mind my MD, DNG-C doctor did not agree, it was apparent he was not pleased, the hospital’s pulmonary department came in gave me a treatment and the hospital sent in their General PA to let me know I was being released, then the hospital administration calls my room, so I got dressed and left. Running a low grade fever 100.4, my oxygen level was 92%, but I am to go home. Calling my insurance case manage, TODAY! The WORST!
