I just had the worst experience in this office. I am a healthcare professional. I am an active and practicing RN In the state of NJ. Due to life dreams and projects, I am pursuing my own business. Due to recent change of jobs, I went to this office as a “Cash” patient. Other school classmates recommended this office and affirmed paying no more than $250 dollars in cash for a physical, blood work, and an MD certificate of health. I called the office, requested price for the services I needed for my license. The same cost that other classmates told me, were confirmed by this office staff. I booked my appointment and on that occasion, I was not able to get blood work done due to early closing hours. Today, I was off work, walked in, was completing my paperwork, when a pregnant office staff member asked me to follow her to Dr. Beth’s office to tell me that to complete the certificate of health I needed, I would need blood work and that the cost would be over $400+ for everything. I told… Dr. Beth in English, that other classmates had payed $250 for the same services including bloodwork. Dr.Beth seemed annoyed and responded, “Maybe they had insurance.” I told her that they didn’t have a doctor or insurance and why would they have payed if they had insurance. I said I needed the services today and I was willing to pay if they take card payments. The office staff confirmed they take card payments. I left Dr. Beth’s office and proceeded to continue to fill out my paperwork in the reception area. While sitting there, I overheard Dr. Beth and Dr. Abraham discussing how I would not be seen for questioning the payment. The pregnant staff approached me and told me that Dr. Beth said I could go to “an urgent care office and be seen there”. I asked the staff member what the problem was, even she seemed to feel bad for being the messenger. While we were talking, Dr. Abraham rushed to the reception area where I was sitting with my daughter, other staff and patients present. Dr. Abraham was upset, yelling at me and telling me he didn’t have to see me because I was not his patient. I immediately identified myself as a nurse and told them both, Dr. Beth, who was already behind Dr. Abraham, that there was absolutely nothing wrong with me asking for the cost prior to receiving services, and saying that others I know had paid way less money for the exact same services. I told them both that I, too am a healthcare worker and what they were doing, kicking me out of their office and refusing to provide services after questioning the cost, was unethical. I stand to my word and my daughter as my witness that this is what happened. If this happens to me that am a US citizen, speak English, and am an RN in this state and country, I wonder what happens to others in other circumstances. Please don’t go to this medical office unless you have absolutely no other choice. Both doctors joined to make this unethical decision to refuse to render care as if we were not in the US where anyone has the right to ask or question costs for a service being rendered. I’m sure they own this practice and that would explain why they acted in this manner. Please do not go to these doctors!! They’re absolutely unkind and unethical!!
