Allergy Asthma Associates operates in a way that feels highly misleading. I was initially told that the allergy treatment would be virtually free, with no out-of-pocket costs. The program was described as a 2–3 year course, with visits becoming less frequent over time.
I am a retired military member with two medical insurance plans, so I expected the treatment to be well covered. However, within the first three months, I decided to stop because not only was the treatment ineffective, it actually made my symptoms worse. At one point, my vision was affected to the extent that I had difficulty driving. When I raised these concerns, I was told this was “part of the process,” and somehow my treatment plan was extended to five years.
I ultimately chose to discontinue treatment after the clinic repeatedly demanded fees that were supposedly not covered by my insurance. On multiple occasions, I felt pressured to pay before receiving my scheduled shots. Then, nearly three months after stopping,… I received an additional bill for $150, citing accumulated co-pays and charges not covered by insurance.
Based on my experience, this facility appears to prioritize volume over patient care. There are always large numbers of people waiting for shots, yet I rarely saw a doctor available for consultation or to discuss treatment progress.
I had planned to live in Tucson, AZ for only four years, so a five-year program was never practical for me. Had I been clearly informed of the true duration and costs upfront, I would not have started treatment at all.
Additionally, my interactions with the staff were disappointing. I did not find them to be particularly friendly or supportive. Given my experience, I would strongly advise others to approach this clinic with caution.
This is, by far, the worst medical clinic I have ever been to. Their practices are completely lacking in transparency, and the treatment they provide is not only ineffective—it can actually make your condition worse.
My experience was extremely disappointing, from misleading information about costs to a complete lack of proper care and oversight. Instead of improving my health, I left feeling worse and frustrated with the entire process.
Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. You deserve competent, honest medical care—this place is not it!!
