Avoid at all costs. Went for a standard visit in October of 2021 with comprehensive health insurance. Paid the copay and did not hear another word about anything until 9/15/2023, when a debt collection agency informed me that a debt of $21.52 had been sent to them for collections as a result of the visit from 2 years prior. No attempt whatsoever was made to inform me of any outstanding balance during those 2 years. I have not moved, changed email address, or changed phone number.
I called AHI to see how this happened, and I'll spare you the details of what followed, but in summary I spent more than 4 hours over the course of 5 working days just trying to get anyone to explain this to me. Multiple managers were involved, but nobody seems to know what anyone else is doing, how anything works in their system, or how/why this happened. I was given conflicting information by every single person that I spoke with.
Today I finally managed to get someone who had researched this,… and she told me they did not have my address on file. This is obviously untrue, as this was a required field on their intake form. She claims that somehow my address was obtained anyway, and a single letter informing me of the outstanding balance was mailed in 2021. This allegedly bounced back to them as undeliverable (which, again, could only happen as a result of an error on their end), and at that point the debt was sent to collections in January of 2022. Understandable that she could not tell me why the debt collection agency did not contact me about this for more than a year, but she also could not tell me why no attempt was made by AHI to contact me by email or phone once the "letter" was returned to sender. She could not even tell me what their policy on this was, despite having reached out to managers to ask.
Absolute goat rodeo. If they can't be trusted to handle the simplest of billing procedures, or to even explain a series of their own mistakes on that front, do not trust them with anything related to your health.
Please look at the other reviews on my profile and you will find that every one of them is 5 stars. I never post anything negative, but this whole thing has been beyond absurd. The debt is small and irrelevant, but their utter inability to explain even their own policies, and the Herculean efforts required to get any kind of answer out of them, is truly ridiculous.
