Denied Care for Not Signing Consent Form for Unnecessary Pelvic Exam: Receptionist Stated It Was Just to 'Feel Around the Area' I had an extremely troubling experience at Boynton Physicians Group with Dr. Eduardo Hidalgo. On January 7, 2025, I arrived at the office for a routine lab appointment. After providing my new insurance card to the receptionist, she handed me a consent form for a pelvic exam. Since I receive pelvic exams from my OB-GYN and not my PCP, I chose not to sign the form. When I returned the paperwork and informed the receptionist of my decision, she explained that many patients mistakenly think the exam is a Pap smear and clarified that it was actually just to "feel around the area." I reiterated that I didn’t want this type of exam from my PCP, as I entrust this care to my OB-GYN. Despite my explanation, I was told by multiple female staff members at the reception desk that I would not be seen unless I signed the consent form for the pelvic exam. Ultimately, I was… denied care and had to leave the office. This situation raised serious concerns for me about the office’s policies. The pelvic exam was unrelated to my appointment, and I was unfairly treated. I reached out to Dr. Hidalgo for an explanation but received no response. I strongly advise anyone seeking compassionate and transparent care to think twice before visiting this practice. Denying care over a decision not to consent to an unnecessary procedure is completely unacceptable.
