I'm updating the prior 1 star review as the management has addressed the cancelation fee issue. Just be aware that there is a $100 charge if you cancel within 2 business days. also the treatment plan should not be set on stone.

In summary, my experience with Bright Smile has been nothing short of regrettable. I hope this review serves as a warning for others who may be considering their services. During my kid’s (8 years old) annual dental exam with them on the August 21st, the dentist discovered a slight cavity on the molar and recommended two follow-up appointments for filling. The recommended procedures include laughing gas in addition to local anesthesia. I have great insurance with metlife but the laughing gas was not covered and the estimates summed to thousands. I questioned the necessity of laughing gas as in my previous experience this was not required, but the admin lady insisted this was needed for the child’s comfort, and made the two treatment appointments. Their inflexibility and overtreatment should have been the first red flag. The treatment appointments were scheduled on Sep 18th and Sep 25th. I received automatic text reminders starting on the 14th, but due to last minutes travel… requirements, I had to cancel on the 18th. To my shock, I just discovered (Nov 23rd) an exorbitant charge of $200 dollars for the cancelled appointments on the bill delivered past the due-date ($100 for the 18th cancelation and another $100 because the admin failed to cancel both treatments but kept the 25th on schedule). What made this experience particularly disheartening was the complete lack of communication about their cancellation policy at any point during the appointment scheduling process or subsequent interactions. The 1st mention of this policy to me was after I cancelled the appointment where the admin informed me the charges over the text, I explained to the admin that I was not aware of this practice and she just insisted this is their policy. I have been their customer for over 6 years, and this is the FIRST time I heard about this policy. If you are going to charge $200 for unrendered services, then Display your appointment policy in a prominent place visible to all patients and include the language in the text reminders to give response time! The clinic's decision to levy such a hefty fee without warning appears to be nothing more than a money-grabbing tactic. As a patient who values transparency and fairness, I find this practice to be not only unethical but also a blatant disregard for the financial well-being of their clientele. My trust in the professionalism and integrity of bright smile has been shattered, and I am in the process to file a formal complaint to the Illinois State Dental Society and Dental Board. I strongly advise potential patients to be wary of hidden charges and policies that are not communicated upfront. There are numerous dental clinics in the area that prioritize transparent communication and fair practices, and I would encourage individuals to explore alternatives that value their patients more than their profit margins.
