First Coast Mohs Skin Cancer Center

Horrible experience. I was in the waiting room at 10:56 am when I received a call from the office to tell me they were running behind for my 11:00 appointment. I was told to come back in 1 & 1/2 hours. I don’t live in the area and had been waiting 4 months to coordinate this Moh’s surgery. It’s hard to kill 1 & 1/2 hours when you don’t live in the area. I came back at 12:30 and signed in & was ignored (whatever was on her cell phone was obviously more important than me). I waited 5 minutes & went back to the desk to verbally check-in. I waited another 15 minutes. When I inquired about how much longer, & I was told another half hour. I explained my husband was finishing up appointments at Mayo & needed to be picked up. I was told that I should have been advised to schedule on a free day (like we used to do to wait for the cable guy to show-up, take the whole day off & wait for them to show up ‘cause they’re more important than you are). When I expressed that over a two hour wait was… excessive and inconsiderate I was told they would need to speak with someone else about it. I could overhear everything that was being said, the laughter at the situation and the receptionist explaining that she was just the messenger and that she couldn’t explain the process to me. When I heard all of this I stepped in to say, that I understood the process, I’ve had Moh’s surgery more than once, and I understand issues arise, but over a two hour delay without being notified before one is already in the office is not professional to say the least, & to be told to hang out another hour or maybe more is totally beyond rude. They actually said that’s the way the doctor likes it. That displays to me the doctor is more interested in the almighty dollar or he would create a more reasonable schedule for himself. No one ever apologized and of course there were no openings the following day. I would have to reschedule, meaning another 12 hour round trip drive and a hotel stay, or continue to wait while they called the patients in at their scheduled appointment times instead of picking up the patients they were behind on already. By 1:06, more than 2 hours after my original appointment time. I requested a refund of my copay & left. I lost respect for this doctor and his total disregard for his patient’s time. They could have offered to call me when they were ready so I wouldn’t have to wait, but no. They could have offered me a later time after their scheduled appointments that day were complete, but no. They could have offered be a time the next morning before they started their scheduled patient’s, but no. The office staff had no compassion at all & no consideration for me or my time. I’m just one of the many forgotten patients that crosses their paths. I guess I would feel that way too if I had to work with that schedule everyday. I’m sure it’s a common occurrence, so definitely don’t expect any “Patient Care” at this office.
