On my first visit at Malcom R. VA Med Center, Dr Almodovar was an attentive doctor. My primary concern was about a particular lady employee at the receiving desk. I honestly forgot to check out with her after being seen by the doctor. So I passed by her and she noticed me walking by her desk and with a loud voice said, “HEY, HEY you! You need to see me first before leaving”. This was very rude of her to treat us veterans that way. The least she can say, “ Sir, Im sorry but you need to see us before leaving”. She yelled at me as if she owns the VA facility or being at home yelling at people with her. I believe this is a sign of complacency lacking enforcement of discipline and cistomer service to employees. Our conversation went downhill from then on. Not sure if she was having a bad day. I was relaying to her my last 4 SSN number several times which I had rest of my life claiming repeatedly that Im giving her a made up or wrong last 4 SSN. And her customer service was way down below… standard with a tone of distespect, belitlling me. I just feel sorry for the older veteran folks who could not have the strenght to defend themselves. I am 100% sure she had treated them this way but healthwise cannot defend themselves. After I left her front desk, two elderly couple seating told me, “we heard everything, she was very rude”. In my opinion she does not have the compassion to be working in a Medical Facility, which should be a primary requirement for a medical environment. She was also speaking with her co employee beside her when I checked in about peronal topics and laughing. While I waited for a few minutes before she attended to me about my VA ID and personal information. I believe they are getting too complacent with their duties and responsibilities negletting to practice professionalism since on my own observation are not getting enough patients compared to other VA Medical Facilities. We dont deserve this type of treatment after my service with the US Navy for 20 years and 15 years as a civil service employee with the US Department of Defense deploying to 5 war zones (Tip of the Spear). This was a total disrespect to our veterans regarding on how she performs her duties and responsibilies. She does not deserve to assist our veterans. If I had the chance to do it again, I should have requested to speak with her immediate supervisor. To stop the way she treats our fellow veterans. Im sure this type of incident has happened prior to my experience. Please resolve this issue immediately since we dont deserve this type of treatment from a person who physically and mentally NEVER defended the country even for a single day. I strongly recommend for her not to work in an environment with our veterans. Thank you.
