The Lunette Optic Optometrist in the Boston Financial District location was very rushed frequently distracted. During the patient visit she frequently and overtly checked her Apple Watch and rushed patient eye exams to the point she became so distracted that she charted protected patient medical information in the wrong chart. In response to the above observations she was asked, "What time does the practice close?" Her response "everyone here goes home right at five o'clock". This level of rushed medical care was hard to justify as it was before 3:00 pm. Thus, feeling uncomfortable I informed the optometrist I had concerns in the speed in which she performed the subjective refractive clinical/visual acuity exam (although not stated to the optometrist I am a provider myself). Following her exam and despite my concerns, her recommendations included a particular brand and prescription of contact lenses. She then prescribed contact lenses, discussed the cost and provided a lengthy written… patient fee contract to sign. The Lunette optometrist then insisted, despite them not having the correct prescription contacts available, that the patient should now wear a different prescription and "it should be fine". Feeling very concerned of the medical care rendered we elected to conduct the next follow up appointment at the Lynnfield Mass Lunette Optic location instead. During this follow up appointment the new optometrist repeated the eye exam then immediately reported to us that the prescribed use of the contact lenses by the Boston Financial District Optometrist would cause life long harm by worsening the underlining medical condition. Moreover, he reported due to the age of the patient and the underlying medical condition "only glasses should have been prescribed to prevent the eye condition from worsening." Now shocked and being concerned for other patients we contacted the business owner Dr. Michelle Rahimian (Optometrist). During this conversation Dr. Rahmian was made aware in detail of our above concerns for patients. However, during this conversation, in an attempt to deflect any perceived liability, Dr. Rahimian failed to acknowledge the prescribed treatment error, and instead repeatedly worked hard to pivot the conversation, even talking over us, adamantly stating how the eye exams between her optometrists, although weeks/ months apart, all demonstrated close to identical visual acuity results. However, there was no acknowledgment by Dr. Rahimian of our treatment concerns. Unfortunately, due to these interactions we have lost trust in Dr. Rahimian and her firms ability to deliver safe and medically appropriate eye care.
