Painless Dentistry

I would not recommend Painless Dentistry based on my son’s experience. My minor son had an established treatment plan for a pulpotomy, commonly called a baby root canal. On August 27, 2026, I took him out of school on only his second day of the year for that procedure. Instead of following the treatment plan, Dr. Brad Rondeau placed a filling in the tooth. After that, my son developed significant pain. We returned for an emergency visit on August 31, and I was told that he should have received the baby root canal and that the tooth was now infected. I specifically asked whether he needed antibiotics, and even a dental assistant raised the question. I was told no. We returned again on September 4, and this time I was told that the baby root canal could no longer be done because the tooth was infected and that the tooth should have been extracted instead of filled. Staff then told me an antibiotic would be sent to the pharmacy. When I got to the pharmacy, I learned that the… prescription they received was not an antibiotic and did not match what I had been told my child was being prescribed. The pharmacy then attempted to contact Painless Dentistry to verify the prescription. According to the pharmacy, the office did not answer the call and did not return the call. So, to be clear: the original treatment plan was not followed, my child remained in pain, I was told the tooth was infected but no antibiotics were prescribed at that visit, I later received conflicting information about whether the tooth should have had a root canal or been extracted, the wrong type of prescription was sent to the pharmacy, and the pharmacy’s attempt to clarify the medication went unanswered. My son ultimately required emergency medical care because he was still in significant pain with a known dental infection. This was not one bad appointment. This was a series of conflicting treatment decisions, poor communication, medication concerns, lack of follow-through, and unnecessary suffering for a child. I have filed formal complaints with the appropriate Michigan agencies regarding this matter, and I have requested a review of the Medicaid billing connected to his treatment as well. Parents trust dental professionals to follow treatment plans, communicate clearly, manage infections appropriately, prescribe the correct medication, and respond when a pharmacy is trying to verify a child’s prescription. Based on our experience, that trust was badly damaged. I would strongly encourage any parent considering this office to ask detailed questions, get copies of the treatment plan, and verify exactly what procedure and medication are being provided before leaving the office.

Used to live in Charlotte and went to Painless Dentistry there Moved to Lansing area a couple years ago and been going to Painless Dentistry at Pennsylvania and Mount Hope in Lansing Everything they have done feels wrong Was still in the office and a filling fell out Nothing has felt good Now a crown on a root canal fell off The place is an absolute joke
