Being ready to replace some dental bridges with implants, my general dentist recommended treatment with a prosthodontist to ensure a good occlusion between the implants and natural teeth. My first appointment with Dr Ryan was Aug 12, 2020 and the last was Dec 6, 2022. Over that timespan, an enormous number of issues arose, but here I will focus on only one. The first set of implants were placed Sept 14, 2020 with the crowns being finalized Dec 6, 2022. During this 2 year process (Dr Ryan’s original plan called for 6 months), my bite was routinely incorrect - a fact I repetitively informed Dr Ryan of during the individual appointments only to be rushed from the office and have to return within the week to have further adjustments made. The process felt more like trial and error than precision from an experienced provider. Not uncommonly, I would return to the office for my bite to be re-readjusted by a dental assistant and not even seen by Dr Ryan to check the work. This ultimately… caused me physical pain, resentment, and placed an unimaginable stress on my family and I. My professional life has been turned upside down as well. In order to secure the appointments for procedures required 50% up front with the balance due at the time of service. In total my treatment cost >$30k out-of-pocket. Paying in advance of the procedure’s billing is a practice my dental insurance has since informed me is something they had never heard of. Importantly, I am a reasonably healthy individual, compliant patient, and my body accepted the implants well. The delay in finalizing treatment seemed primarily driven by the lack of urgency Dr Ryan had once she had received my money. There is an abyss between what Dr Ryan promised at the start and what she was capable of delivering. Listing all the other ways I was let down by her office would make this too long to endure reading as well as seem so over the top as to be unbelievable.
