I needed to consult with an orthopedic, a hand specialist, who had an office at Columbia Midtown. I found the doctor whose name you see above. His credentials were impressive, so I made an appointment. I’ve fallen (very poor balance) a number of times in the last few years, and, most of the time, my right hand takes the brunt of the fall. As a result, my right thumb is misaligned, swollen, and always painful. I have gotten two injections in my thumb from a doctor at another major hospital in Manhattan, and she told me that the next step, if pain persists, is surgery. I wanted to discuss that with another doctor. Dr. Kadiyala was rushed and rude from the onset of our consultation. He told me there was nothing he could do, and, in the same breath, described his wife’s pain and how his sons at home take care of her. Women complaining about similar pain - his woman taken care of by her two young sons. I came into Manhattan that day to sit before a highly-educated individual who had no… time for female chatter and no medical advice for me. I was in his office for maybe five minutes. There was another woman in the room, possibly an assistant or a resident. I don’t know. I looked at her in disbelief of the doctor’s quick, scripted response to my pain, and all she did was smile. I can’t imagine the level of her self-esteem when she leaves that office each day. An MD and a PhD - what a waste! His mindset trumps his degrees. His remarks rolled right off his tongue effortlessly.
