Richmond Gastroenterology Associates

I made an appointment in July for a procedure. It was confirmed by email for Oct 16, 2025, I gave them my insurance information at that time and was going to have the procedure at Bon Secours Memorial medical center. I called on Oct 8, 2025 to verify the location and the rep was not sure where I was to go in. She then informed I could not go to MRMC as my insurance would not cover it. She said I would have to go to Chippenham or JW, She said I would get a call from schdueling. I waited 2 days to no avail. I called back and the rep stated they had not done anything. She then set me up for Staples Mill location for the same date of 10/16. I then received a text from them saying I needed to pay $750.00 and to call to pay. They could not have reviewed this within the 4 months the knew of my insurance. Also receiving a text is one heck of a way to do business. She then stated she was not sure how much insurance would pay and the mpney was a seposit and they would refund it if they did not… need it. I asked what kind of interest they paid while holding my money and they stated they did not do that. I was also asked about coding and what my insurance would pay. I stated I did not know as I am not a medical biller. I'm sure the doctors are good, however their office staff is completely incompetent. All the reps could state this is there policy. It also appears I am not the only one this is happening to. I work everyday and I should not have to do there job foe them. I am definetly NOT going here anymore.
