Women of menopausal age have all heard the horror stories of their OBGYN not believing their symptoms and gaslighting their patients around their complaints of peri and menopausal symptoms and making patients feel totally dismissed and without hope - Tollgate OBGYN is THAT office. I met with Jen, one of their nurse practitioners, she was incredibly rude, argumentative, dismissive, and rushed me through both appointments I have had with her. She dismissed almost every single symptom I have been having by saying "nope" and shaking her head and then when I said it seemed as though she would not prescribe HRTs for me she aggressively said a few times, loudly and aggressively: "Did I say that?" When I said I wasn't "trying to be a B*" but that I was just so discouraged she looked at me as if to say "well you are being one." She offered me a 2 minute rushed explanation of an out-of-pocket more natural alternative and then said said no, she would not prescribe HRTs for me; she wished me the… best of luck finding another provider, and on the way out threw a fake "You're not alone" at me. I was disgusted by the fact that this female health care provider was more interested in leaving at the end of the day than helping me; she left the office and drove past me while I was sitting in the parking lot crying. Absolutely disgusted by the way she handled me. While I was emotional and discouraged, I expect my health care professional to be just that, PROFESSIONAL. She was not. I was unhappy, discouraged, and aggravated and I foolishly expected a level of compassion and empathy and a desire to help me from a nurse collecting my payment and insurance. Instead she was totally dismissive, rude, and aggressive. Please do NOT go to Tollgate OBGYN if you are dealing with menopause at any stage. Tollgate has an aesthetics business as well - giving botox and filler injections - she had no problem pushing that to me my first appointment; it seems maybe they take menopausal women hoping they'll get injections. Avoid at all cost if you're not pregnant.
