Melissa Shelby is my mother’s psychiatrist. My mother has seen Melissa her for the last 2 years. My mother is in her 80s. My 1 star rating is based on my own experience with psychiatrists and my observations of Melissa’s care with my mom over the last 2 years. About 16 months ago, my mom’s anxiety really began to increase. The change in her mental, emotional and physical state was dramatic. My mom recognized it and the change was truly debilitating. Melissa has prescribed several different meds for my mom. BUT 1) why didn’t Melissa schedule monthly appointments with my mom to see how she was doing. Much with prescribing meds is trial and error. 2) why didn’t Melissa see my mom more frequently to help her, to diagnose her, to medicate her. She met with my mom, she observed my mom and she talked with my dad, my sister and me. My parents feel belittled and dismissed. They feel hopeless.
