Dr. Christopher Harner, MD

I have only been to one appointment So far, but can't imagine it going any better. He is smart, professional, and my wait was not long. Moreover, he took plenty of time discussing my issue s with me

He is an arrogant doc who is resting on his laurels. Memorial Hermann made a mistake with this hire. Dismissive, keeps you waiting, and didn't prepare for my appointment or review medical records. Got information incorrect.

Had a referral to see Dr. Harner after experiencing a fall. His bed side manner was condescending and rushed (I guess I wasn't an important sport star) I walked out thinking it was all in my head and there was nothing wrong with me. Ultimately, I walked around for 5 years with a torn meniscus and ACL in horrible pain because I was too afraid to get another opinion.

There is not much to say other than Dr. Harner is the best at what he does--that is why he is working for the Penguins. If you are lucky enough to get him to take you as a patient, congrats! Dr. Harner is friendly and business-like--the way a doctor should be. He is the best.

When I asked to be referred to Dr.Harner during my MRI evaluation, I did so with the knowledge that no one in his practice was more respected for his expertise. At the same time, I was reminded that "some" have found his bedside manner to be lacking but that no one on staff was more thorough in his work. I had no complaints with the time he spent with me pre-surgery, or with my wife while I was in recovery. I learned that he was very persistent in finding and correcting damage during my surgery.

I have had knee problems over the past 3 months. I hoped that after seeing Dr. Harner I would know what were my problems, but unfortunately I do not. After an initial visit with Harner and an MRI on my right knee, I came back for a third appointment to hear his diagnosis. I waited 45 minutes in an examination room. When he finally arrived, he quickly looked at my MRI, told me there were no problems, and got up to leave. I asked him questions, but every one was answered with "there are no problems, I don't know why you're having pain." His justification was that because the MRI showed no problems, there were none. But as a doctor, he's going to need to use his head every once and a while--not all medical issues show up on x-rays, MRIs, etc. Overall, Harner was rude, condescending, offered me no alternative solutions for treatment, did not address my questions, and left having seen me for less than five minutes. I would not recommend Harner to any prospective patients. He is old and I… can only think that his methods must be out of date.

Issues failure of the physician to provide information regarding the diagnosis and treatment options.Timeliness was of great concern, the office wait time exceeded two hours and the time spent with the patient was minimal. The billing office failed to obtain the proper insurance information. It was a Condescending attitude from the staff and the physician.

I was sent to Dr Harner by another Dr. There were many problems trying to get an appointment, when I did it was canceled less than 24 hours before. His Secertary was very rude and lied about why the appointment was being canceled. By the time I saw him, he did not examine my knee and stated that "from the medical records 2+years ago there was never any damage to my knee" then he walked out. I have never been in an appointment where the dr. uses 2 year old records to determine what is causing the problem. Alot of things can change in a 2 year period

I was referred to Dr Harner for a second opinion based on extensive posterior knee damage and ankle damage. The part that impressed me most is that he does not recommend surgery / reconstruction unless it's absolutely necessary and notes that anything less than a full tear can heal on its own if treated correctly. He prescribed alternative treatment and intense physical therapy, which produced results that are far better than I had hoped for. My original prognosis was not favorable. The intent was to repair it well enough to get by. Bottom line: Dr Harner saved me from unnecessary knee reconstruction and ankle reconstruction that was pending at a military facility. Based on his diagnosis treatment, I was also able to continue to actively serve as a Marine without limitations.
